David Appell : The Global Cooling Denier

David recites the usual denier crap on his blog. The ice age scare never happened, the CIA didn’t know what they were talking about, blah blah blah ….

But wait. There was that little thing about the directors of NCAR and CRU …..

Hubert Lamb CRU Director : “The last twenty years of this century will be progressively colder”

John Firor NCAR director : “it appears we are going into a period where temperatures will be low and variable”

Before Hansen tampered with the data, this is what NCAR showed :

This is what the National Academy of Sciences showed :

Then David makes this hilarious comment

The state of scientific knowledge in 2012 is far better than it was in the 1970s.

In the 1970s NASA sent men to the moon. Now we have morons at NASA predicting the imminent drowning of Manhattan, and super El Ninos every other year.

Krugman : Scientists Should Lie – To Force The Country Further Into Debt

I actually have a serious proposal which is that we have to get a bunch of scientists to tell us that we’re facing a threatened alien invasion, and in order to be prepared for that alien invasion we have to do things like build high-speed rail. And the, once we’ve recovered, we can say, “Look, there were no aliens.”

But look, I mean, whatever it takes because right now we need somebody to spend, and that somebody has to be the U.S. government.

Climate scientists have been lying about an imaginary threat for decades. They should sue Krugman for plagiarizing their idea.

Record Fast Cloud Naming Season

Posted by: JeffMasters, 4:03 PM GMT on May 26, 2012 +31
The second named storm of this unusually fast-starting 2012 Atlantic hurricane season is here. Subtropical Storm Beryl formed Friday night, a few hundred miles east of the South Carolina coast, from an area of disturbed weather that had moved from the Western Caribbean northeastward. Beryl’s formation marks the first time since the hurricane season of 1908 that two Atlantic named storms have formed so early in the year. The only other year with two storms so early in the year was 1887. Records of tropical cyclones in the Atlantic extend back to 1851.

Dr. Jeff Masters’ WunderBlog : Subtropical Storm Beryl forms | Weather Underground

Translation : the dearth of hurricanes in recent years has forced NOAA to become very aggressive at naming storms. 1908 was one of Hansen’s ten coldest years, so this has nothing to do with global warming

McKibben tweets :

@billmckibben: Beryl a tropical storm, first time in 108 years we’ve had two storms this early in season http://www.wunderground.com/blog/JeffMasters/show.html

Notice Of Patent Application

I recently filed for two green energy patents.

  1. Solar powered spotlight.
  2. Wind powered fan.

I have calculated that these two devices will prevent 13.794 degrees of warming before July, 2023.

What You Need To Know To Be A Climate Expert

  • CO2 really messes up the climate
  • CO2 makes weather more extreme. It makes droughts wetter and floods drier.
  • CO2 loads the dice
  • Before the Koch Brothers invented CO2, the weather was always perfect
  • Republican CO2 is bad. CO2 is less harmful if you feel guilty about it.
  • In order to fix the climate, we need Republicans to stop thinking bad thoughts.
  • The climate demands monetary sacrifice
  • CO2 causes earthquakes
  • CO2 is more powerful than hundreds of thousands of nuclear weapons
  • The Arctic is nearly ice free
  • Polar Bears have already swum just about as far as they can swim before they drown.
  • Heartland is evil

Texas Governor Humiliates Clueless Texas Climate Scientists

Democratic Blog News : Trust What You See – But Only When You Hallucinate It

No End in Sight for Texas Drought

Good call. The drought is over for 90% of the state.

Gov. Perry, who failed to stop the drought with his prayer proclamation, yesterday dismissed any worries about the Texas drought while speaking at the Iowa State Fair. Perry said, “we’ll be fine. As my dad says, it’ll rain. It always does.“

Texas is having one of their wettest years on record in 2012. Apparently Perry’s father was correct, and Dessler is clueless.

Perry believes that the climate is still normal, unaffected by the 30 billion metric tons of carbon gas human civilization pumps in the biosphere every year, a level expected to increase to 33.8 billion metric tons annually by 2020 and grow to 42.4 billion metric tons annually by 2035.

As opposed to the 970 billion metric tons which nature pumps into the atmosphere every year.

Texas has grown hotter and drier, with stronger wildfires and torrential storms as climate changing greenhouse gases build in the atmosphere. Dr. Katharine Hayhoe, director of the Texas Tech University Climate Science Center, has said

NCDC records show that there is no trend in Texas temperature or precipitation since they started keeping records in 1895. Facts and Katherine are like oil and water.

For many of us, we only have to look in our own backyards to see the evidence with our own eyes. Trees are blooming earlier in the year, winters are getting warmer, summers are getting hotter, extreme heat is becoming more frequent, birds, insects, and other animals are moving northward … in all, more than 25,000 independent lines of physical and biological evidence point to a warming world.

During the previous few cold and snowy winters, these same people insisted that the US is only 7% of the planet, and that anyone who trusted their own eyes was ignorant.

Perhaps the Democratic Blog should stick with stuff they understand better.

Dr. Jim’s Magic Show – Appearing 24×7 On The GISS Web Site

During Hansen’s 1999 admission that the US wasn’t experiencing any climate change, he unveiled his earlier magic trick – corrupting the Northern Hemisphere temperature record.

How can the absence of clear climate change in the United States be reconciled with continued reports of record global temperature? Part of the “answer” is that U.S. climate has been following a different course than global climate, at least so far. Figure 1 compares the temperature history in the U.S. and the world for the past 120 years. The U.S. has warmed during the past century, but the warming hardly exceeds year-to-year variability. Indeed, in the U.S. the warmest decade was the 1930s and the warmest year was 1934. Global temperature, in contrast, had passed 1930s values by 1980 and the world has warmed at a remarkable rate over the last 25 years.

NASA GISS: Science Briefs: Whither U.S. Climate?

Pretty graphs. The only problem is that the National Academy of Sciences issued a very different graph of Northern Hemisphere temperatures in 1975 – which was essentially identical to Hansen’s 1999 US graph.

The two graphs are shown overlaid below. Hansen’s 1999 US graph was closely tracking the rest of the Northern Hemisphere – the exact opposite of what Hansen claimed in 1999.

Now compare vs. Hansen’s Northern Hemisphere graph.

The next image is an overlay of the National Academy of Sciences 1975 Northern Hemisphere graph on Hansen’s Northern Hemisphere graph. Hansen knocked a few tenths of degree off all years prior to 1940.

Conclusion, at some point prior to 1999 Hansen tampered with the Northern Hemisphere data, and later used that as the basis to justify tampering with the US data.

Holdren 1997 : Ten Degrees Warming In The US

The Free Lance-Star – Google News Archive Search

This was before Hansen tampered with the data set. As of 1997, Hansen’s US temperature graph showed more than 1F cooling during the previous 70 years – yet Holdren predicted 10F warming over the next 50 years.

Why Obama’s Poll Numbers Stay At 49%

Number of the Week: Half of U.S. Lives in Household Getting Benefits

49.1%: Percent of the population that lives in a household where at least one member received some type of government benefit in the first quarter of 2011.

The 49.1% of the population in a household that gets benefits is up from 30% in the early 1980s and 44.4% as recently as the third quarter of 2008.

Vote for Obama. Why work, when you can live off other people whom you never met?
