Peter Gleick cleared of forging documents in Heartland expose

Suzanne Goldenberg, US environment correspondent

A review has cleared the scientist Peter Gleick of forging any documents in his exposé of the rightwing Heartland Institute’s strategy and finances, the Guardian has learned.

Gleick’s sting on Heartland brought unwelcome scrutiny to the organisation’s efforts to block action on climate change, and prompted a walkout of corporate donors that has created uncertainty about its financial future.

Gleick, founder of the Pacific Institute and a well-regarded water expert, admitted and apologised for using deception to obtain internal Heartland documents last February.

He has been on leave from the Institute pending an external investigation into the unauthorised release of the documents. That investigation is now complete, and the conclusions will be made public, the Guardian has learned.

The Dangers Of Racism

In 2008, the US elected a completely unqualified candidate to the presidency – because he was black. In 2012, the same candidate has added four years of failure, division, taking credit for other people’s accomplishments and deferring blame to his resume – and still almost half of the voters will vote for him.

This is different from 2000 and 2004, when America elected a completely unqualified candidate because of his surname.

I see the G8 has a brilliant solution to the problems of the eurozone. President Obama says it’s time for “growth and jobs”. Jolly good. That’s the stuff. Let me show you how to create employment – the Brussels way.

Unemployment is rising by the day, and among young people it now stands at a shameful 54 per cent. Yup, folks – those are the results of an EU plan to produce “growth and jobs”. It was called the euro, and it has been a catastrophe for Greece and pretty bad (with one notable exception) for the rest of the continent.

Has Lewis Pugh Made It To The North Pole Yet?

In 2008, Mark Serreze forecast an ice-free North Pole. This inspired Lewis Pugh to kayak there. His trip ended when he hit ice further away from the pole than the normal extent line for September.

Surrogate for Obama Denounces Anti-Romney Ad
By RAYMOND HERNANDEZ

Mayor Cory A. Booker of Newark, a prominent Democrat enlisted as a surrogate for President Obama’s campaign, sharply criticized it on Sunday for attacking Mitt Romney’s work at the private equity firm Bain Capital.

Mr. Booker, speaking on the NBC program “Meet the Press,” made his comments in response to a television advertisement the president’s campaign unveiled last week. It portrays Mr. Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, as someone who eliminated jobs for the sake of profits during his years running Bain Capital.

“I have to just say, from a very personal level, I’m not about to sit here and indict private equity,” Mr. Booker said. “To me, it’s just we’re getting to a ridiculous point in America, especially that I know I live in a state where pension funds, unions and other people are investing in companies like Bain Capital. If you look at the totality of Bain Capital’s record, they’ve done a lot to support businesses, to grow businesses. And this to me, I’m very uncomfortable with.”

Charges Should Be Dropped Against Zimmerman And Raised Against A Few Other People

It is 100% clear now that the shooting was neither racially motivated nor is there a snowball’s chance in hell of getting a second degree murder conviction. Charges against Zimmerman should be dropped.

There were quite a few crimes committed though, related to the case. NBC news lied about the 911 call and tried to frame Zimmerman. Spike Lee sent a lynch mob to the wrong address. The MSM lied about Zimmerman’s wounds. The MSM lied about who’s voice was heard calling for help on the tape. The MSM tried to raise anger against Zimmerman by using old pictures of Martin. The prosecutor intentionally withheld critical evidence.

Quite a few people should be facing charges over their attempts to frame Zimmerman and deprive him of his constitutional rights. But they won’t – because the President and Attorney General were also involved.

97% Of Rocket Scientists Say That Hansen Has To Go

To the long list of right-wing, knuckle-dragging know nothings who dare question “global warming,” environmentalists can add six Apollo astronauts, two rocket men who flew aboard Skylab and a pair of former directors of the Johnson Space Center (JSC).

These veterans of America’s space program are among the 49 retired NASA employees who recently asked the agency to halt what they consider its unscientific advocacy of climate alarmism.

In a letter to NASA administrator Charles F. Bolden Jr., these rocket scientists, space explorers and other men and women of reason requested that “NASA and the Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) refrain from including unproven remarks in public releases and websites.” They added: “We believe the claims by NASA and GISS, that man-made carbon dioxide is having a catastrophic impact on global climate change are not substantiated, especially when considering thousands of years of empirical data. With hundreds of well-known climate scientists and tens of thousands of other scientists publicly declaring their disbelief in the catastrophic forecasts, coming particularly from the GISS leadership, it is clear that the science is NOT settled.
