Time For A New Ice Age Scare?

Arctic ice area has increased by more than 10% over the last four years. Experts tell us that current weather patterns are caused by missing Arctic ice, so it follows that the excess ice is caused by missing ice.

Why Hansen’s 1981 Predictions Have Come To The Surface

Hansen’s famous 1988 predictions were a complete fustercluck, so a few weeks ago realclimate dug up an obscure forecast Hansen made in 1981, while he was still doing science.

On the 42nd Earth Day, April 22, 2012, it’s time for a change. No more flowers and beach balls that look like the earth. In Christian theological terms, it is time for righteous anger and judgment on the way in which the continued willful destruction of the planet’s ecosystem is causing widespread suffering and loss.

Flying semi-trucks and 4 feet of hail should now be our visuals for Earth Day.

The first Earth Day in 1970 is credited as launching the environmental movement and the idea of global warming. In 2012, the planet is in terrible trouble, and so is the environmental movement.

Global warming projections from thirty years ago have proved to have been remarkably accurate. Yet, there has been a steady decline in the number of Americans who say they see solid evidence of global warming.

Congratulations To NOAA And Jeff Masters

NOAA and Jeff Masters have unleashed a coup of stupidity upon the US, possibly unprecedented in the country’s history.

This year’s late winter heat wave over much of the United States, dubbed “March Madness,” has been cited as evidence that human-induced global warming is causing the climate system to stray far outside its normal range of variability. The thousands of all-time high temperature records shattered during last month’s climate rampage have been likened to home-run records shattered by a baseball player on steroids.

It is true that the signature of human-induced global warming is clearly apparent in the increasing number of new high temperature records, which are currently outnumbering low temperature records by a factor of about 3 to 1. Just as a rising tide lifts all ships, a rise in global mean temperature is bound to raise the levels of the highest temperatures.

In the absence of proof that the jet stream’s variability is human-induced, we must consider the possibility that the apparent weirdness of the weather in March isn’t all that weird if viewed in a larger historical context. In this respect, it’s noteworthy that large areas of the U.S. were just about as warm in March 1910 as they were in March 2012.With weather, weird things happen every now and again.

Melting of Siachen glacier — don’t blame global warming

Arshad H Abbasi
Sunday, April 22, 2012

Siachen is the only Glacier of Karakorum range melting with unprecedented rate, the cause of which is the military presence in the area and not global warming. The high-resolution images of the Siachen glacier show deep cracks every 10 feet (crevasses), both in longitudinal and transverse directions. The retreat of the glacier is also visible by horizontal expansion of glacial lakes throughout the glacier, but the most alarming sign is the vertical thinning of glaciers, which is aggravating the widening of crevasses at a massive scale.

India’s and Pakistan’s claim over Siachen glacier has turned the region into the highest battleground on Earth. Since, April 1984, both the countries have maintained permanent military presence up to the height of over 22,500 ft. To facilitate the forces to defend their position, both countries, especially India, has developed cantonments, forward base-camps, training schools, aviation workshops and huge ammunition storages in the area. The infrastructure, including several bunkers has also been developed by cutting and melting of glacial ice through chemicals. To facilitate troops, in the inhospitable terrain and extreme weather conditions, a kerosene pipeline has also been laid down on main glaciers by the Indian Army. Kerosene is then supplied for stoves provided at every igloo (post) for heating and cooking purposes.

Three Days Of Normal Ice

ScreenHunter 673 Apr. 22 06.55 Three Days Of Normal Ice

Same graph as I have posted for the last five days. DMI on top of NSIDC April 16, am.

NSIDC has since introduced a two day lag into their graph, so their graph should be right up against the normal line today.

Mann “Faces Off” All By Himself

The USA Today author seems a bit confused about the difference between “facing off” and “jerking off”.  A face off involves two people, and would mean actually showing up for a debate – something the hockey team would never do.

Michael Mann faces off with foes on ‘Hockey Stick’ tour

Hockey sticks and brawls aren’t just for NHL playoff games. Climate scientist Michael Mann has the scars to prove it. But along the way he has picked up some fans as well.

The “Hockey Stick” — the term given to a graph depicting the globe’s average temperatures over the last millennium, looking like a flat shaft with a “blade” spiking upward at the end of the 20th Century — made Penn State’s Mann and his colleagues into magnets for controversy among climate naysayers. Largely, they criticized the hockey stick’s stark depiction, based for the most part on tree-ring data, of rising temperatures driven by global warming. The graph became famous after it appeared in a 2001 United Nations climate panel report.

Critics, most notably Canadian mining executive Steve McIntyre, argued that the type of statistics Mann used to collate past temperatures from tree rings inevitably introduced biases toward warming in the hockey stick reconstruction. But among scientists, a 2006 National Academy of Sciences report headed by Texas A&M’s Gerald North that largely vindicated temperature reconstructions settled a lot of debate.

Little Change In Arctic Ice Forecast For The Next Few Days

arcticictn_nowcast_anim30d.gif (740×666)

The US Navy is forecasting very little change in Arctic ice extent over the next four days. This is due to abnormally cold water on both sides of the Arctic Basin, near Greenland and Alaska. Normally we would expect to see Bering Sea ice disappearing very quickly now.

More Information

What happened at real-science has nothing to do with climate or climate alarmism. It was a violation by a trusted person with access to site admin privileges.

Some people have been experiencing IP block for the last week. That is a different issue – some scumbag convinced McAfee that real-science was evil.

I will reveal more information soon, but am trying to figure out how to do this with minimum damage to someone I should have been able to trust.
