Think Progress Blames The Dust Bowl On Inhofe

As Oklahomans Die, Inhofe Mocks Killer Heat Wave

By Brad Johnson on Jul 22, 2011 at 3:20 pm

The heat wave now battering much of the nation is centered on Oklahoma, where record heat and drought have crippled the state for the entire summer. With August on the way, there is no end in sight. The prolonged heat — Oklahoma City has been above 100°F for 30 days this summer — has probably killed over a dozen Oklahoma residents:

The oil-rich state is also the epicenter of global warming denial, led by its senior U.S. Senator, Jim Inhofe (R-OK). The oil-funded senator has a long history of finding humor in the misery caused by extreme weather disturbed by greenhouse pollution, including the record snowstorms of this winter. This deadly heat wave is no exception.

The closest USHCN station to Oklahoma City is at Meeker. This July, the average high temperature has been 102. http://www.wunderground.com/

In July, 1936, the USHCN average high temperature in Meeker was 104. August, 1936 averaged 106. CO2 was 310 ppm at the time. Hundreds of people died.

July 1913 – 103 degrees. July 1934 – 104 degrees. July 1954 – 103 degrees. July 1980 – 103 degrees. Five years had higher temperatures and all were below 350 ppm.

Team AGW are classic witch burners. They imagine a problem, make up facts, and then find someone to blame it on.

Dust – Another Magical Temperature Control

NOAA : Dust makes planets cold

(PhysOrg.com) — A new study led by the U.S, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) shows that tiny particles that make their way all the way up into the stratosphere may be offsetting a global rise in temperatures due to carbon emissions. And while scientists cannot yet say with any certainty where exactly the particles are coming from, they are saying that they have confidence that such particles have likely muted global temperature gains by as much as a third of what they would have been. They team, led by John Daniel, a physicist at the NOAA Earth System Research Laboratory (ESRL) in Boulder, CO, has published their results in Science.

Hansen : Dust makes planets very hot

“I decided to say that Venus was so hot because a dusty atmosphere was trapping internal heat,” he recalls. That was good enough for the doctoral committee”

CO2 has similar properties. It made snow a thing of the past while simultaneously producing record snowfall. It also causes record cold – when needed to keep funding going.

Heat Index!

It is almost 100 degrees and I have an upstairs 0ffice with no AC. Should I dial 911, or should I dial 1-800-turn-on-the-fan-and-stop-being-such-a-pathetic-little-pussy ?

Weather Quiz

It is hot in North America because cool Arctic air is not moving south. That means that the cool air is staying in the _rct_c.

Where’s Your Record Low?

People keep posting how awful the condition of the ice is and that the world is experiencing a record heat wave. “Shirley” we must be headed for a spectacular record low.

It is the thinnest, rottenest, least extensive ice that man woman or alien has ever seen, and the heat index is 121 degrees.

It Was A Joke, Jim

Prior to the year 2000, the two hottest years in the GISS US record were 1934 and 1921 respectively. 1998 was the third hottest year, and more than half a degree cooler than 1934.

This of course made no sense to Hansen, because CO2 has increased a lot since the 1930s. Einstein once said “If the facts don’t fit the theory, change the facts.”

Hansen apparently took him literally.

Update On CSU Shenanigans

Fred Singer tells me that there was supposed to be a projector in the CSU conference room, but that it “went missing.”

The complaint from the resident CSU atmospheric scientist warmists and the Coloradoan, was that he didn’t present any data to back up his assertions. Earlier in the day Fred gave the presentation at the CSU Physics department, who did provide him with a projector.

Fred offered to show the data on his laptop after the talk was over. I have no idea who is responsible, but it doesn’t look good for the university.

Al Gore : “Global Warming Worse Than Terrorism”

(CNN) — A giant explosion rocked government buildings in Oslo, Norway, on Friday, state TV broadcaster NRK said, with at least one person confirmed dead.

Windows in several buildings had been blown out, and people were in the street bleeding, NRK said on its website. The cause of the blast remains unknown.

There are conflicting reports about whether a second blast followed the first, which occurred mid-afternoon in the center of the Norwegian capital.

A spokesman for Oslo police told CNN: “There has been a bomb explosion in the government area. At least one person is dead, and a number of people are injured. We don’t have the exact number yet.
