Radical New Idea From Salon : The Sun Affects The Earth’s Climate

Never underestimate the brilliance of warmists. They may be three centuries late, but eventually they show up.

There are three major factors that affect the planet’s temperature and, by extension, its agricultural development: volcanic activity, the presence or absence of El Niño and, finally, the heartbeat of the sun. If the latter slows down for long periods of time, the Earth gets colder. During the Maunder Minimum from 1645 to 1715, the sun effectively lost its heartbeat entirely. The result was unbearably cold winters and incredible hardship around the world.

Carbon emissions have warmed the planet dramatically, but we happen to be entering a new sunspot [i.e., heartbeat] cycle — the 24th in our recorded history. Many experts believe that not only will it have weak maximum temperatures, but very deep minimums. If this is true, it’s the best thing that can possibly happen. The sun would effectively buy us time to switch over to non-fossil fuels.

Oh wait a minute. We are actually going to burn alive in four years.

If we end up having strong or even normal maximums, temperatures in 2015 could be hotter than humans have ever seen before.

I’m guessing that skeptics of global warming have willfully ignored this research.

They have, and to our great peril. The fact that the sun has kept global warming down over the last 10 years has given some people an excuse to declare that it simply doesn’t exist.

I’m confused now. I thought the lack of warming was due to Chinese ???

Hiding The Satellite

Playing hide the satellite is almost as much fun as playing hide the salami.

http://www.aviso.oceanobs.com/

How do we deal with that inconvenient ESA satellite? I know, lets make the line very faint yellow,  and not normalize the starting point – like we did with all the other satellites. Also, let’s throw in an irrelevant 0.3 mm/year which has nothing to do with the accuracy of measurement at the surface of the water.. We certainly wouldn’t want people to see the correct representation of the data.

Climate Change Lunatics Costing Australians Much More Than Taxes

PORT Albert, on Victoria’s southeast coast, is a pretty-as-a-picture fishing village that is at war with the science of climate change.

Residents in the village have been told that because of rising sea levels, new housing has to be built on stumps almost 1.5m above ground level, despite the fact many of the town’s original colonial buildings have withstood time and tide on ground level without ill effect since the 19th century.

At the same time, a heritage overlay in the village, introduced more than a decade ago, prevents roof lines being built higher than the roof of the local pub, which is claimed to be Victoria’s oldest continuously licensed hotel.

Residents have seen land values plummet by 38 per cent in the past year under the weight of the overlays. Investment in the town has stalled. And Port Albert Progress Association president Donna Eades says that, with rising floor levels and roof lines limited by the height of the pub, “the next generation of Port Albert residents will have to be pygmies”.

The closest tide gauge to Port Albert is at Stony Point (85 miles) and shows no change in sea level through their 20 year record.

Global warmers, like many religious types, see facts as a threat.

Did Tevez Throw The Match?

Tevez had everything to gain by playing poorly yesterday.

Almost As Bad As The American Women

City is asking too much for him, and the only way for him to get out of England is to bring his value down. He did that perfectly yesterday.

Where Are The Millions Of Green Jobs?

The US elects a clueless derelict who has never had a real job, knows nothing about business, and whose primary concern is that people worship him. Then everything falls apart. Weird how that works.
