Surface temperatures in the Arctic since 2005 have been higher than for any five-year period since record keeping began in 1880, according to a new report from the Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Program, an international group within the Arctic Council that monitors the Arctic environment and provides advice on Arctic environmental protection.

What Homer Knows About Ethics

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

American Tradition Institute’s Environmental Law Center today filed a lawsuit in federal district court in the District of Columbia to force the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to release ethics records for taxpayer-funded global warming activist Dr. James Hansen – specifically records that pertain to his outside employment, revenue generation, and advocacy activities.

ATI seeks to learn whether NASA approved Hansen’s outside employment, which public financial disclosures and other documents reveal to have brought him at least $1.2 million in the past four years. This money comes in addition to – and, more troubling from an ethics and legal perspective, is all related to – his taxpayer-funded employment. Dr. Hansen’s outside employment commenced when he increased his “global warming” activism from his perch at NASA.

What Homer Knows About Sea Level

Homer knows that if we can get CO2 back below 350 PPM (pre-1988) – we can slow sea level rise down to the same rate it is currently rising at, and has been rising at for 100 years.

What Homer Knows About Glaciers

He knows that glaciers were retreating rapidly in the 18th century at 280 ppm, and he also knows that if we can get CO2 back below 350 ppm – the glaciers will stop retreating.

My Lake Powell Forecast

It looks to me like the Upper Colorado Basin has about ten more snow melt days ahead, and the Green River Basin has about twenty.

I figure (10 days * 0.8 feet/day) + (10 days * 0.4 feet/day) = 12 feet of rise above the current level by mid-July. This puts the level up close to the long-term average for mid-July, and of course doesn’t include any possible additional runoff from rain.

Growth Of Multi-Year Ice

In 2008, Mark Serreze incorrectly forecast an ice-free North Pole – based on the fact that it was covered with thin first-year ice. Cryosat shows below that MYI (black line) has grown substantially in extent since then.

PIOMAS continues to show record low volumes of ice, despite all indications to the contrary that the ice is thickening.

Record Sea Level Rise Rates?

http://www.aviso.oceanobs.com/

Supposedly sea level rise on the US East Coast is the fastest in 2,000 years.

Jason-1 shows sea level falling along most of the US East Coast. It is also quite clear from this map that cherry-picking one location isn’t going to fly.
