Poudre Continues To Rise

I’m in CA this week, but the river is continuing to rise and public access to the river has been closed off to the city.

I’m happy to be in safe East LA. Since we left home there has been a drive by shooting and a murder in downtown Fort Collins – where the police force is too busy harassing bicyclists and ticketing people going 26 in 25 zones, to do anything about gang activity.

Most Of The Thick Ice Was Lost Between 1988 and 1996

And most of the loss occurred during the winter, not the summer.

Unintended Consequences

The green killer: Scores of protected golden eagles dying after colliding with wind turbines

California’s attempts to switch to green energy have inadvertently put the survival of the state’s golden eagles at risk. Scores of the protected birds have been dying each year after colliding with the blades of about 5,000 wind turbines. Now the drive for renewable power sources, such as wind and the sun, being promoted by President Obama and state Governor Jerry Brown has raised fears that the number of newborn golden eagles may not be able to keep pace with the number of turbine fatalities.

Cool LA

Last summer I spent a week in San Jose and was amazed by the very cool weather. This year I am in East LA and exactly the same story. Sunny, breezy and high temperatures in the 60s. Almost too cool for short sleeves.

Wherever global warming is happening, it isn’t in California.

Out This Week

It is going to be slow this week as I am off to some meetings in California. My son may be contributing some different style blogging while we are out there!

It’s Not Worse Than They Thought

The IPCC predicts 18-59 cm of sea level rise this century, not the multi-metre crap being spewed by Hansen and other eco-loons.  Even the wildly bloated CU satellite interpretations indicate only a foot of rise by 2100.

Nazis Take A New Form

Surely it’s time for climate-change deniers to have their opinions forcibly tattooed on their bodies.

Not necessarily on the forehead; I’m a reasonable man. Just something along their arm or across their chest so their grandchildren could say, ”Really? You were one of the ones who tried to stop the world doing something? And why exactly was that, granddad?”

Wasn’t it obvious to everyone intelligent that inferior races were destroying Germany?
