Cycling is now much more than a recreational activity

Annual event encourages commuters to choose alternate transportation mode

Four years ago, Richard Littlemore made a life-changing decision to make a cycling his chief mode of urban transportation.

The co-author of Climate Cover-up, The Crusade to Deny Global Warming wanted to practice what he preaches.

“So I started riding my bike and I’ve now ridden virtually every day the last four years,” Littlemore said.

My lifestyle is very similar, but I would have thought that all that fresh air would have cleared his brain out.

Waxman Wants America To Listen To The Vatican

Waxman and Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) – who is the ranking Democrat on the Energy and Power Subcommittee – note in a letter to Upton, “Both reports find that climate change is occurring and that urgent action is needed to address its dangers.”
Upton steered a bill through the committee and later the full House that blocks the Environmental Protection Agency’s power to regulate greenhouse gases.

Upton argues that the rules will cost jobs and raise energy prices. He has sought to steer debate on his bill away from climate science and toward the economic effects of EPA rules.

But many Republicans are openly skeptical of climate science. At a committee markup of the bill in March, Democrats forced a vote on an amendment that called on Congress to accept the scientific consensus that climate change is occurring, it is caused in large part by human activity and it is a threat to human health.

The amendment failed, and Waxman and Rush pointed to that vote in their Monday letter calling for a hearing on the Vatican and NRC reports. They wrote:

“While the conclusions reached in these reports reinforce what scientists have been telling us for years, they illustrate the remarkable scientific consensus on the issue and present constructive efforts to find solutions. We believe members would benefit by hearing from the authors of these reports, particularly since a majority of the Committee voted earlier this year to deny the existence of climate change.”

Sigourney Weaver Fights Climate Change

Over the past month, I have been speaking to women in Canada and the American Midwest about a powerful force that discriminates against us. I am not talking about the glass ceiling or sexists bosses, although we all know those still exist. I am talking about climate change.

You might think that a force as sweeping as global warming would be an equal opportunity threat: that it would endanger men and women alike. But the fact is climate change exacts a heavier toll on women.

Women produce up to 80 percent of the food in the developing world. Drought and unpredictable rains brought on by climate change will make this work far more precarious. Women will have to labor harder and longer to ensure their families have food, fuel, and water.

I don’t care how stupid she is now. That scene in Alien was was one of the hottest moments in cinema history.

Garnaut 2009 : The Permanent El Nino And Drought In SE Australia

Climate alarmism has nothing to do with science. Why are these people still in business?

March 24 2009

Professor Garnaut said Australia should support an emissions trading scheme starting in 2010, putting him at odds with the call by the Opposition Leader, Malcolm Turnbull, to delay the scheme until 2012. But he warned against giving unlimited protection to the highest polluting export industries, saying it would force Europe and the US to do the same.

The conference will hear from scientists giving the latest Australian research on the impact of climate change on agriculture, human health and coastal communities from rising temperatures, lower rainfall, higher bushfire risk and rising sea levels.

Of acute concern is whether the El Nino weather pattern which brings drought to south-eastern Australia may become permanent.

Two years ago they predicted permanent El Nino and drought. This year they claim that they predicted La Nina floods.

Garnaut Sells Snake Oil In WA

PRIME Minister Julia GIllard’s carbon policy adviser says WA is already seeing the effects of global warming and needs to support the introduction of a carbon price mechanism.

Speaking to a packed house at the University of Western Australia last night, Professor Ross Garnaut said the drying of the South-West has been predicted by climate change scientists, and climate changes in the region are directly attributable to carbon levels in the atmosphere.

“I’m very much aware, being in Perth, that the science is pretty clear that some of the early unambiguous footprints of climate change are there in the drying of the South West of Western Australia,” he said.

He tells a crowd of concerned people that there are “unambiguous early pretty clear signs” and that he has snake oil which will save them from something which has been happening throughout Australia’s history.

There is one corner of Australia which is dry. Which climate model predicted this? Which science predicted this?

John Cook Steps On Hansen’s Toes

The modus operandi of alarmists is to stake out all possible positions – which guarantees that no matter what happens they can attempt to claim victory. Sometimes it backfires though.

Hansen claims that his 1988 forecasts were pretty close, because CO2 emissions have been much lower than scenario A. This is complete nonsense on all counts, as John Cook  inadvertently points out.

Global Cooling Tragedy In Progress

I was out riding this morning along the Poudre River and witnessed the deadly effects of a non-man-made low sunspot count. A doe appears to have delivered her fawn on an island in the river last night, and are now trapped by rapidly rising waters from record snowmelt.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgxzOf0dhDA]

The water is probably six feet deep on both sides of the island, running very fast, and rising perhaps six inches per hour. I contacted the Colorado Division of Wildlife and they are going to send someone over but were not willing to risk human life for a rescue.

I think that they should be able to drop someone off the bridge if they can get there soon enough. The island will definitely be underwater by tonight.
