Chicken Little Runs Around The Coop With His Head Cut Off

In my thirty years as a meteorologist, I’ve never seen global weather patterns as strange as those we had in 2010. The stunning extremes we witnessed gives me concern that our climate is showing the early signs of instability. Natural variability probably did play a significant role in the wild weather of 2010, and 2011 will likely not be nearly as extreme. However, I suspect that crazy weather years like 2010 will become the norm a decade from now, as the climate continues to adjust to the steady build-up of heat-trapping gases we are pumping into the air. Forty years from now, the crazy weather of 2010 will seem pretty tame. We’ve bequeathed to our children a future with a radically changed climate that will regularly bring unprecedented weather events–many of them extremely destructive–to every corner of the globe. This year’s wild ride was just the beginning.

Declining Snow Cover Causes Record Snow Cover

This winter (December-February) will almost certainly be in the top two snow cover years for the northern hemisphere. Right now it is positioned as the snowiest winter on record.

As our top climate scientists explain it, the shortage of snow cover is the cause of the record snow cover.

Nobel Prize Winner Al Gore ties the loose ends together :

As it turns out, the scientific community has been addressing this particular question for some time now and they say that increased heavy snowfalls are completely consistent with what they have been predicting as a consequence of man-made global warming:

The shortage of snow causes global warming, which then creates an excess of snow. This is known among Nobel prize winning climate scientists as an excessshortage, or alternatively as a shortageexcess.

Shock News : Scientist Caught Making Up Global Warming Drivel

OSLO (Reuters/Alister Doyle) – A North Atlantic current flowing into the Arctic Ocean is warmer than for at least 2,000 years in a sign that global warming is likely to bring ice-free seas around the North Pole in summers, a study showed.

Scientists said that waters at the northern end of the Gulf Stream, between Greenland and the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard, averaged 6 degrees Celsius (42.80F) in recent summers, warmer than at natural peaks during Roman or Medieval times.

“The temperature is unprecedented in the past 2,000 years,” lead author Robert Spielhagen of the Academy of Sciences, Humanities and Literature in Mainz, Germany, told Reuters of the study in Friday’s edition of the journal Science.
