Antarctica is only two weeks away from the start of meteorological summer, yet temperatures there remain more like winter.
It may surprise you to learn that our diets account for up to twice as many greenhouse emissions as driving. One recent study suggested that the average US household’s annual carbon food-print is 8.1 tonnes of “equivalent CO2 emissions” or CO2eq (a measure that incorporates any other greenhouse gases produced alongside the CO2). That’s almost twice the 4.4 tonnes of CO2eq emitted by driving a 25-mile-per-US gallon (9 litres per 100 kilometres) vehicle 19,000 km – a typical year’s mileage in the US.
It is expensive for most industries to do business in the US, because of very high tax rates and high labour costs.
Proposals to close “overseas tax loopholes” simply drive corporations to move more of their operations overseas. It was probably not such a good idea to elect a Columbia University educated POTUS who has never worked in the private sector. Would you let him do brain surgery on you? How would he do as concert master at Carnegie Hall? Would you let him work on your car? Could he design a bridge? Could he teach science to third graders? Can he program a computer?
What exactly is he qualified to do?

The Arctic is one of many fastest warming places on Earth.
Since the start of the millennium, US winter temperatures have been plummeting.

It was also the snowiest decade on record in the Northern Hemisphere.
They are going to lose their trees, water, rain, snow, tourism, agriculture, skiing, economy, and will probably drown from rising sea level.
Clinton arrived in Taipei on Sunday afternoon for a 24-hour whirlwind trip as part of a speaking tour in Asia sponsored by a Singaporean company.
In his speech, he warned of the consequences of global warming, and said every island nation in the world, such as Taiwan, must confront the potential threat of a rising sea levels.
He also asked everyone else to make sacrifices he isn’t willing to make.
Unless there is a massive overhaul of people’s lifestyles, there could be “social, political, and even military” repercussions, he contended.
February 13, 2010 – Snowcover in at least 49 states, possibly all 50.
The graph below show the Rutgers snow extent, for all months since 1990 which had extent greater than 45 million km². As you can see, winter snow cover is spreading further south – as that is the only direction it can expand.

When Al Gore predicted that climate change could lead to a 20-foot rise in sea levels, critics called him alarmist. After all, the International Panel on Climate Change, which receives input from top scientists, estimates surges of only 18 to 59 centimetres in the next century.
But a study led by James Hansen, the head of the climate science program at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York and a professor at Columbia University, suggests that current estimates for how high the seas could rise are way off the mark – and that in the next 100 years melting ice could sink cities in the United States to Bangladesh.
