Lousiana Democrat Speaks With Forked Tounge

I’m not a doomsday person, but ….. At the rate we’re going and what we’re doing to it [Earth], I am fearful that we won’t leave much of a legacy for our children and grandchildren.

– Charlie Melancon (D-LA)

He got the second part half right. Melancon repeatedly voted to raise the debt placed on our children.

Instead of worrying about an invisible trace gas which is essential for life, how about stopping the direct measurable long term damage being inflicted by the current crop of lunatics in Washington?

It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.

Hottest Year Ever : Philadelphia Still Cooler Than 1828

Through October, Philadelphia has averaged 59.3F. The same period in 1828 averaged 59.6F. With La Niña coming on, is unlikely that the hottest year ever will finish as warm as 1828.

CO2 levels were 280 ppm in 1828.

Lying Wins Elections

I was just talking to my oldest son and asked him who he was voting for in the Senate race. He said “I’m not voting for Buck. He wants to end student loans.” The same story I heard from his brother last week.

I asked him where he heard that. He said “Everyone knows that. It is all over YouTube.” He was talking about the fraudulent campaign ad put out by the Bennet campaign.

Bennet also claimed that Buck “proposed the largest tax increase in history.”

Seems to me that Bennet should be investigated for fraud, not sent back to Washington. His dishonest campaign may keep Inhofe out of the Senate EPW chairmanship.

WWF Blames La Niña on CO2

KARACHI: The time has come to reduce manmade temperatures by a significant level to combat global warming, which may cause more floods and droughts in Pakistan, advised environment experts and ministers.

While talking to Daily Times, World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Pakistan Coordinator Nasir Panhwar said emission of greenhouse gases, rise in manmade temperatures including burning of fossil fuels and deforestation were major factors contributing to global warming.

The recent floods in Pakistan were due to global warming and change in extreme weather condition, he said, adding that global warming would cause more droughts and floods in the country in future.

Hiding The Decline

http://denisdutton.com/newsweek_coolingworld.pdf

The NCAR graph above from the 1970s, showed 0.6F (0.33C) global cooling from 1945 to 1970, despite the fact that CO2 increased substantially during that period.

Fortunately, through careful analysis – Hansen has been able to reduce the amount of cooling from 1945-1970 by almost 40%.

Richard Leakey : The End Is Near

Optimistic Pessimist: Fossil hunter Richard Leakey believes the end of the world is near — yet he’s hopeful.

He seems to be joining ranks with Ehrlich and Holdren, but from looking at his picture, I’m guessing that the global food supply hasn’t collapsed quite yet.

What Happened To The Anasazi?

For 250 years starting around the year 900AD, the Anasazi had the dominant culture in what is now the southwest US. Their structures at Chaco Canyon were the largest buildings in North America until the 19th century.

They were driven out of Chaco Canyon by 175 years of nearly continuous drought between 1125 and 1300. Was this drought caused by CO2? Probably not.

We are fortunate that we live in a period of time when the climate is so mild. What is unfortunate is the return to ignorance and superstition.

The 1887 Hurricane Season

Must Be Global Warming

Despite the lack of satellites in 1887, nineteen tropical cyclones were detected. Undoubtedly a number more were missed.

Four hurricanes hit the US that year, among seventeen which hit between 1886 and 1889. Four years in a row, almost one hurricane hit the US every month during hurricane season. Joe Romm would be absolutely hysterical if that happened now.

It has been almost 800 days since any hurricane struck the US.

More Good News From The Guardian

Maybe the new Congress can find out how John Holdren got to be science advisor, and why Obama refuses to listen to scientists with viewpoints that don’t match his political agenda.
