Twitter Cheating With Patrick Moore Too

The Twitter follower purge seems to be across the board for prominent skeptics.

Over the past week I have gained 432 followers and lost 468.  I haven’t found a single unfollow yet which was voluntary.

Leftists have been getting bolder and bolder with their sabotage. Honest discussion does not seem to exist any more, on any topic.

Australia Trip Called Off

Australia has adopted a policy of isolation, so I had to cancel my planned trip there.

Perhaps I will go to Sweden instead, where they never closed their borders, restaurants or schools, and are close to herd immunity with 95% fewer deaths than alarmists predicted. A large percentage of the deaths they did have in Sweden were people who likely would have died this year anyway.

It isn’t clear to me how countries like Australia and New Zealand will be able to open their borders any time in the foreseeable future. They have gone down a path with very little flexibility.

No Immunity Versus Herd Immunity

Sweden, which didn’t lock down, close their schools, borders, restaurants or bars – saw their economy grow during the first quarter.

Coronavirus: Sweden’s GDP actually grew in the first quarter

I have been stunned by the negative response to Sweden’s approach from all sides of the political spectrum. On April 14, a well known climate skeptic made this forecast of 230,000 deaths “if no effective vaccine is available.”

Most obviously, herd immunity for a highly infectious disease like this requires that well over 90% of the population become immune. (Here are some estimates of the percentage of the population which must be immune, to achieve herd immunity for some other infectious diseases.) If no effective vaccine is available, that requires that >90% of the population be infected. Since this is a disease which has, under the best of conditions, a 2.5 ±0.5 percent fatality rate, that means >90% of (2.5±0.5)% of 10,230,000 dead Swedes.

He missed by a factor of 200, and Sweden is rapidly approaching zero deaths.

Coronavirus latest: Sweden sees no new deaths for first time in 11 weeks | News | DW | 31.05.2020

Sweden followed the same trajectory as other Northern Hemisphere countries which had problems in nursing homes.

Daily confirmed COVID-19 deaths per million: are we bending the curve?

Their forecast death count of 5,000 will barely show up as noise in their annual average death count of 90,000. Many of the people who died in Sweden (and everywhere else) would have died this year anyway.

Sweden’s schools, universities, borders and economy are open. The public is largely confident of herd immunity. Compare this to New Zealand who has their borders closed, no immunity, and draconian laws – which allow home invasion by police over virus suspicions.

COVID-19 Public Health Response Bill 246-1 (2020), Government Bill 20 Powers of entry – New Zealand Legislation

New Zealand granted their police unlimited powers, and are currently busy demonstrating against the police in other countries. Very Orwellian – and not very intelligent.

Southern Hemisphere countries are just coming into coronavirus season now.  Their “amazing success stories” were due to the position of the Sun, not government policy.  My Australia trip was cancelled yesterday, because Australia was afraid of me (and everyone else from the Northern Hemisphere.)

The Sun controls the climate, and it also controls coronavirus. But delusional governments believe they control both. In a few weeks, life in Sweden will back to normal, but countries like New Zealand and Australia have no logical path forwards. Their fear will force them to keep their borders closed to most of the world indefinitely.

Never Mind …..

The World Health Organization says they didn’t really need to lock everybody down, shut down schools and put tens of millions of people out of work after all. The correct approach was to quarantine the sick (like has been done with every other virus in history.)

BBC Astonished By Normalcy

The BBC is astonished by 30C temperatures in the Arctic near Scandinavia.

During the summer of 1927, temperatures over 32C were persistent in that same region.

BBC : Burning Wood Doesn’t Generate CO2

The BBC says lockdowns were used to get rid of coal, and that transporting wood from the US and burning it in the UK does not generate CO2.

The BBC also says they can’t explain the nursing home deaths (which were used to force the lockdown, which was then used to get rid of coal.)

Looks like we just watched the Green New Deal implemented.

Why I Avoid The Police State

I can write about this now that I moved out of Colorado.

During the summer of 2010, I left a restaurant in Fort Collins at 10 PM. There was no one else out at that time, and I rode my bicycle on the sidewalk half a block and then turned down an alley.  There were two cops waiting there who wrote me a $15 ticket for riding my bicycle on the sidewalk. I told them I was astonished that the city was paying for two cops to write such pointless tickets late at night – and they didn’t disagree with me. The whole thing was absurd and I forgot about the ticket.

The following winter I was riding my bicycle in downtown Fort Collins and got broadsided by a car with three college kids in it (that was back when kids attended college.)  My bike was damaged and I was injured, but the kids refused to give me their insurance information. So I called the police, and a cop showed up about twenty minutes later. He slammed me to the ground, handcuffed me and hauled me off to the county lockup – because I hadn’t paid my $15 ticket from the previous summer, and there was a warrant out for my arrest.

There was a riot going on down at the county jail at that time, so they couldn’t book me in. I spent the time with the cop talking to him and explaining how vile, over the top, and unacceptable his behavior was. I explained to him that he was violently kidnapping an injured man whose crime was riding a bicycle. I also told him that this was going to make a great story for my blog, and that I reach millions of readers. That got him very concerned, so he called up his superior officer, and then took me home. He asked me not to name names.

I never gave any details about this incident before, because I was concerned about retribution from Colorado police. This was just one of a several incidents I had with Fort Collins police, where their aggressive behavior was totally inappropriate.

Since then, I’ve written several blog posts about Fort Collins and Albuquerque police killing unarmed white and black men without any justification. In 1994, Albuquerque police shot and killed a driver on I-25 directly across the center divide from me. Their guns were pointed in our direction as they fired a dozen rounds. Albuquerque police are famous for killing unarmed people.

Militarized, aggressive, trigger happy police is a real problem, and we need a discussion about it. But that discussion is impossible when it is hijacked by phrases like “white supremacy” and “black lives matter.” All lives matter. Progressives never allow an honest discussion on any topic.

Ono of the reasons I ride my bike is to avoid police who are normally focused on car drivers, but that (obviously) doesn’t always work.
