Arrhenius – Earth To Boil

And 115 years later, Stephen Hawking was parroting the same nonsense.

Stephen Hawking: Earth Could Turn Into Hothouse Planet Like Venus | Live Science

Arrhenius made a fundamental error in that he didn’t recognize  H2O is a greenhouse gas.  Knut Angstrom pointed this out in 1901, and showed experimentally that adding CO2 has very little impact on climate.

Rasool and Schneider confirmed this in 1971.

I generated this graph using the RRTM-LW model, which shows how little impact CO2 and CH4 have on earth’s radiative balance.  Even a huge increase in CO2 or CH4  has minimal impact on climate.  H2O is far and away the dominant greenhouse gas on earth.

Cooling Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico has six long-term GHCN stations, shown in the map below.

Temperatures there peaked in 1925 at 104F, and afternoon temperatures have been declining a rate of 1.1F per century since 1899. Their hottest year was 1941.

Fighting Global Warming With Fake Data For 50 Years

Massart said Schlesinger studied climate change and global warming at UCLA in the 1960s and went around trying to stop companies from polluting, even though nobody knew what global warming was at the time.

“Everyone just thought he was crazy, and he went on to do all this research to really open everyone’s eyes, and now climate change is really recognized as a tremendous thing that we must pay attention to around the world,” Massart said. “He really made a significant impact there.”

“Professor Schlesinger was one of the most intelligent people I have ever worked with.  As a professor, he was very demanding of his graduate students, always insisting on the highest quality work, and as a result, his students have gone on to very successful careers,” Rauber said.

This 2011 article by Michael Schlesinger has an Arctic sea ice graph which peaked before 1970, and showed a steady decline ever since. He said “Strange things are happening at the top of the earth.”

His graph looks nothing like the graphs from Vinnikov in the 1985 DOE Report and the 1990 IPCC report.

Projecting the climatic effects of increasing carbon dioxide

1990 IPCC Report

Vinnikov showed a sharp gain in ice during the 1970s and no net change in sea ice extent from 1963 to 1990. The graph below merges the 1985 and 1990 Vinnikov graphs at the same scale on both axes.

Schlesinger showed a decline of 2 million km. sq. from 1963 to 1990.

It was widely reported that Arctic sea ice increased during the 1970s, but Schlesinger showed a sharp decline..

The next diagram overlays Schlesinger’s graph on the 1985 DOE graph, at the same scale. Schlesinger showed nearly 50% more ice in the 1960’s than the 1985 DOE Report

I normalized the graphs by sliding Schlesinger’s graph down the Y-axis. After doing that, the period prior to 1977 looks somewhat similar.

Then I added in the 1995 IPCC graph in blue.  Schlesinger’s trends look nothing like those in the 1985 DOE Report and the 1990 IPCC report.

In 1922, journalists used the same words : “Strange things happening in the Frozen Arctic.”  They described a radical change in climatic conditions with hitherto unheard-of high temperatures, and glaciers disappearing. They wondered if the Arctic was going to melt entirely.

NOAA uses a different propaganda technique from Schlesinger.  They don’t make data up, but rather they hide all the inconvenient data before the peak in 1979.

There has been no trend in sea ice extent since the start of MASIE records in 2006.

White Men Caused The Little Ice Age

The Guardian says white men caused the Little Ice Age by killing Native Americans after 1492 – and they say they will not be quiet about the “climate crisis.”

European colonization of Americas killed so many it cooled Earth’s climate | Environment | The Guardian

Interesting theory, given that rapid cooling began about 200 years before Columbus arrived in America.

ipcc_far_wg_I_chapter_07.pdf

The Little Ice Age started 40 years before Columbus showed up.

Through analyzing tree rings, the Arizona researchers have concluded that they have yet to see the first fruits of the so-called greenhouse effect, the warming of the earth that many say will result from humanity’s release of excessive heat-trapping gases like carbon dioxide and methane into the atmosphere.

But Donald A. Graybill, who studies bristlecone pine trees growing at high elevations in the White Mountains of eastern California, has evidence that the carbon released into the air by the burning of fossil fuels like coal and gasoline is sharply stimulating the growth of bristlecones, both by serving as fertilizer and by making the elderly wonders more efficient in their use of water.

Lisa J. Graumlich, who examines the ring patterns of foxtail pine trees and western junipers in the Sierra Nevada, has compiled a detailed record of the year-to-year variation in temperature and precipitation over the last thousand years.

She has seen in the North American trees the feathery but unmistakable signatures of the Medieval Warm Period, a era from 1100 to 1375 A.D. when, according to European writers of the time and other sources, the climate was so balmy that wine grapes flourished in Britain and the Vikings farmed the now-frozen expanse of Greenland; and the Little Ice Age, a stretch of abnormally frigid weather lasting roughly from 1450 to 1850.

A Crucial Question “We can now see that these were global climate phenomena, not regional temperature variations,” she said. “The question is, how did we get those warmer temperatures during pre-industrial times, and what can we learn from those conditions about what is going on today?”

There is no indication humans had any impact on CO2 levels before about 1830.

The Guardian article is the work of a sociopath, but it does reflect the mindset of their editors – who believe genocide and depopulation is necessary to cool the planet.

Journalism Melting – Like Never Before

Two months ago, the LA Times hysterically reported that Greenland was melting like never before. They cited 16.5 hours above freezing in the center of the Greenland ice sheet, and said it only happened before in 2012 and during the Middle Ages.
