Arctic Alarmist Crisis Continues To Unfold

There has been almost no melting in the Arctic Basin over the past few days, and this is supposed to be peak melt season.

Arctic sea ice extent is identical to all recent years, but it is declining much more slowly than last year or 2015.

Cold weather forecast over the Beaufort Sea over the next two weeks points towards a major meltdown for Arctic alarmists this summer. Their scam is collapsing in real time.

More Heartbreak For Climate Alarmists

This is supposed to be peak melt season in the Arctic, and very little melting is occurring.

Lots of cold weather in the forecast for the Beaufort Sea.

This summer is shaping up to be yet another disasters for Arctic alarmists.

Summers Before The Dreaded Heat Index

On this date last year, 100 degree weather was confined to the southwest US.  This is fairly typical for summers in recent years.

But in the past, 100 and 110 degree temperatures were frequently widespread across much of the US. On this date in 1934, it was 113 degrees in Minnesota, 80% of the US was in drought, and police shot 50 people in Minneapolis – but at least people didn’t have to face the dreaded “heat index.”

Lots of other hot years too.

Quantifying Heatwave Hysteria

Lots of news about record heat in the Midwest.

The Union of Concerned Scientists says that heat is going to make the Midwest become unlivable in future decades.

Let’s see how their claims compare with reality. Yesterday was the hottest day of the summer in the Midwest. The peak temperature was 97 degrees, and the average temperature was 91.7 degrees.

Compare vs. July 14, 1936 when Illinois and Indiana were 114 degrees, Iowa and Wisconsin were 113 degrees, Missouri was 112 degrees, Minnesota and Ohio were 110 degrees, and Michigan was a nice, cool 108 degrees. Average temperature in the Midwest was 106 degrees – more than fourteen degrees warmer than this year’s hottest day.

The graph plots the average Midwest temperature for every July day since 1895.  The hottest day of 2019 was about six degrees above the median July temperature of 85 degrees.

The hottest day of 2019 was just above the median peak temperature for all July days.

The average July daily maximum temperature has been declining in the Midwest since the 19th century, with this year just about average so far.  However, with cool air moving into the Midwest, it is likely that July, 2019 will drop considerably before the month is over.

The likelihood of hot July weather in the Midwest has plummeted since the 1930’s, with all recent years being among the coolest on record.

Compare vs. an actual heatwave from the 1930’s.

The Union of Concerned Scientists is making claims which have no basis in science, and are the exact opposite of reality.  Their agenda has nothing to do with science.

The End Is Near …

The end of the Arctic melting scam is near. This week should be peak ice loss in the Arctic Basin, and there is little or no ice being lost.

Meanwhile, climate alarmists are screaming about an imaginary Arctic heatwave at Alert, Nunavut – which looks like it never actually happened.

The warmest temperature at Alert this month was 54F – not 70F. Maybe someone took a temperature reading in his living room near the fireplace.

It Is Not The Heat, It’s The …..

July 10, 1936 was the hottest day on record in New York City.  Temperatures reached 106 degrees at the Central Park Observatory.

White privilege went on as normal, the Yankees crushed the Indians.

Black privilege did too. Jesse Owens qualified for the Olympics.

Horse shows and races went on in the 106 degree heat.

TimesMachine: Saturday July 11, 1936 – NYTimes.com

But now people shut down in 93 degree weather.

Saturday, Friday racing canceled at Ellis Park due to heat

Henderson, KY Forecast | Weather Underground

I rode my bike up the hill to NCAR in the middle of the afternoon today. I never use A/C and exercise in the heat every day.  So heat doesn’t bother me. Nobody had air conditioning in 1936, and nobody was addicted to it.
