On May 27, 1896 a three quarter mile wide tornado tore a five mile long path through St. Louis and killed 500 people.

It was extremely hot that day, when a cold front came through at 5PM and spawned the tornado.
That year brought record heat around the world. The two hottest May 9ths in the US occurred in 1895 and 1896.
Arizona had their record heatwave in 1896. Parker, Az had seven consecutive days over 120 degrees, a record only matched in 1905.
January, 1896 was the hottest month on record in New South Wales.

Europe was hot in 1896.

A ten day heatwave during August 1896 killed thousands of people in the US, many of them in New York.
That was also an important year for global warming junk science.
As early as in 1896, Swedish physicist Arrhenius proposed that the presence of atmospheric greenhouse gases may result in warmer surface temperatures on Earth than a simple radiative balance would imply. A comparison between measured surface temperatures and estimated effective temperatures (assuming the planets behave like black bodies and are at radiational equilibrium) of the planets in our solar system has later revealed that planets with thick atmospheres, such as Venus and Earth, have a warmer surface than a simple radiation equilibrium can explain (Houghton 1991). The high surface temperature can be attributed to the greenhouse effect proposed by Arrhenius
The low CO2 levels in 1896 must have been responsible for the record heat.
KANSAS AND TORNADOES.
In years gone by it was considered eminently proper in the east and on the Pacific coast as well to refer to Kansas as figuratively the regular stamping ground of the tornado.
Meanwhile, climate alarmists continue their usual pack of lies, making baseless claims which are the exact opposite of reality.
Residents of New Jersey, Maryland and Massachusetts are more likely to be hit by a tornado than people in Missouri. Illinois has the highest likelihood.

Meanwhile, the scientific illiterates at PBS and in Congress have their facts exactly backwards. Like they always do.

So far this month, we are having our second coldest May on record in Boulder. It is supposed to be warm on May 31, which may save us from being the coldest May on record. Temperatures have averaged 14 degrees cooler than May, 1934.
The US had an unprecedented heatwave during May and June, 1934. Temperatures in the Midwest and Upper Great Plains were over 100 degrees every day from May 26 through June 8, and peaked at 111 degrees on May 30. Temperatures were about 40 degrees warmer than today’s forecast.
The heatwave actually began on May 8, and continued all summer.
Temperatures during May were twelve degrees above normal in the center of the US.

The US experienced an unprecedented drought that summer.
The heat and drought wasn’t confined to the US. The entire planet was experiencing unprecedented extreme weather.

1934 and 1936 were unprecedented years for heat and drought in US. But the extreme weather wasn’t just in the US – it was global. Click on the 1934 LA Times below to see it full sized.

Climate scientists can’t explain the extreme weather of 1934, and it wrecks their theory – so they simply erase it.
