Prophets Of Doom Make Math Errors, Scale Back Apocalypse Forecasts

We conclude that most climate models mix heat too efficiently into the deep ocean and as a result underestimate the negative forcing by human-made aerosols. Aerosol climate forcing today is inferred to be -1.6 \pm 0.3 W/m2, implying substantial aerosol indirect climate forcing via cloud changes. Continued failure to quantify the specific origins of this large forcing is untenable

“a near term acceleration in sea level rise…”

Of course, when the next El Nino they will claim it. This is a no-lose guess.

  2. suyts says:

lol, the parallels of the false prophets are striking!

    • PhilJourdan says:

Parallels? I thought they were coming from the same source!

      • suyts says:

Well, in some circles, that is exactly the posit!

        1 Timothy 4

1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.

2 Pet 2:2 [NIV] Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.
2 Pet 2:3 [NIV] In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.

Hey no fair, that Camping guy has only been wrong twice, Hansen on the other hand….

      • Jim Cole says:

What luck! This is like a cosmic birthday gift. I get to post on two moonbats from “our fair city” Boulder CO in the same day!

Moonbat 1: This loon Camping was born here in 1921, and his predictions of DOOM are just as credible as all the utterings from NCAR on the hill (and they have super-Crays!!)

Moonbat 2: Ward Churchill (see post under Gore Got One Thing Right) – the loon that keeps on giving.

Boulder also has the distinction of being picked by Stephen King as the gathering locale in his post-apocalyptic novel “The Stand” where all the moonbats converge.

Coincidence? I don’t think so (just attend a city council meeting)

  3. NoMoreGore says:

These guys need to get with the program, and stick with predictions of doom more than 100 years out, when everyone will be dead.

  4. A K Haart says:

“Continued failure to quantify the specific origins of this large forcing is untenable”

Untenable? I’d say he’s found continued failure pretty tenable. Profitable too.

  5. Robbcab says:

An awesome take-away line from the article:

“Apocalyptic thinking has always been part of American religious life and popular culture. Teachings about the end of the world vary dramatically — even within faith traditions — about how they will occur.

So fitting for the eco-scare crowd.

  6. Andy Weiss says:

Hansen’s religion is not even a loving, joyous religion. It is a hateful Cult of the Devil, totally based on irrational fear and punishment of non-believers (tornado victims).

  7. Seele says:

I don’t believe that Hansen is admitting the error of his ways or recanting. I think he is arguing for even higher sensitivity of the climate to CO2 than currently estimated, on the grounds that the latency of climatic response to forcing is greater than is represented by the models he criticizes here, and that this ‘missing’ heat is stored in the deep oceans, ready to escape.

He intends to take advantage of the coming el Nino warming to press this view.

  8. Jimash says:

Granted there are volcanic vents. Granted there are warm water currents with spanish names.
Has anyone ever located a submerged warm water current or reservoir ?
I was under the impression that below a certain depth, but for the vents, water is really cold .

  9. Jimbo says:

Harold Camping had said before last Saturday:

“without any shadow of a doubt it (Doomsday) is going to happen,”

Yet he failed. Similarly, James Hansen is certain of AGW. So certain he was willing to be arrested. So certain were some of Camping’s followers that they got rid of all their posessions and even sold houses. 🙁

  10. JESS says:

THIS CLOWN NEED TO GET A NEW HOBBY. HE IS JUST A WASTE OF ENERGY AND TIME.

    • TinyCO2 says:

I agree, Hansen is a waste of time. Camping is good for a laugh which is an important skill for a clown.

    They have dementia?
