The Ultimate Cherry Pick

Last summer was the coldest on record in Los Angeles, and the pattern has not changed much.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Another winter-like storm is bearing down on California with up to 2 feet of snow expected in the southern Sierra Nevada, and more rain and cold forecast for Southern California through Wednesday.

Heavy snow and strong winds were expected to begin Tuesday night in the mountains from Yosemite to southern Tulare County, the National Weather Service said. A winter storm warning was in effect until 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The only day Romm noticed the California weather was October 4 – when he reported on their one hot day of the summer.

In this country, the record-smashing temperatures in Southern California got most of the attention.

It is clear that Romm’s agenda is not science.

I’m simply shocked that Romm would cherry-pick the information that he presents. Surely that raving lunatic can’t possibly be coherent enough to do that. He must have staff doing it for him.

Record hot is climate while record cold is just the weather.

That’s probably premature to say. They will outdo it. Ultimate hasn’t been reached yet.

After a very cool summer, we got a very intense early-autumn heat wave. These heat waves are common at that time of year, but this was a little more intense than most. Some points about the “all time record” set:

    * Only the single “downtown” LA site set an all-time record, and it was by 1F. None of the dozens of other official recording sites=s in the LA area did. The one nearest my home did not even set a record for the date.

    * This site was moved some years ago to a lower altitude than the previous site (from the downtown core to the USC campus).

    * The LA area has urbanized a little bit over the last century, growing 10- to 20-fold in population over that time.

    * The weather conditions that cause these autumn heat waves in the California coastal cities also guarantee there is still air in the passes where the big wind turbines are, so the wind farms provide no power when power demand is at its peak.

    * In earlier eras, there were not huge numbers of air conditioners dumping waste heat near the measuring stations.

How outrageous! I hadn’t heard about this part. A record that is no record!
