1899 : Top Australian Astronomer Described The Advanced Civilisation On Mars

The story of life on Mars just shows how long it takes to kill bad ideas (such as global warming). Even in the 1950’s there were plenty of people who still thought Mars was inhabited despite the fact that the canals thing had been debunked 50 years earlier. It took a photograph of Mars snapped on 15 July 1965 by Mariner 4 as it flew by Mars to put a stake through the heart of the ‘life on Mars’ hypothesis.
Such an easy revelation ain’t gonna happen with global warming.
I blame H.G. Wells’ “War of the Worlds”. Remember, people adored sci-fi back then, and do now with increasing fervour! UFOs, anyone?
