Climate experts tell us that Alaska is the canary in the coal mine.
Sea ice off western Alaska has been increasing, with four of the five iciest years occurring since 2007. This year shattered all records for ice area.
Bering Sea ice area has been normal or above normal every day for the past year.
The show – Deadliest Catch – was very interesting this year as half the season was wasted (the crabbing season, not the show’s season) due to the ice. Of course that was last winter, so this year will also be very interesting (that is the only show I regularly watch).

But leading climate scientists have to us that it is the lack of sea ice in August that has grave implications for our climate (sarc).
That was a minor mathematical error on their part when they forgot to account for the latent heat of thinking.
