GLORIA The US Army Corps of Engineers has said that 1985’s Hurricane Gloria could have been catastrophic if it arrived at high tide and just a little closer to the City.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

It is just a matter of time before NYC is hit by a real hurricane. Every location along the East and Gulf coast is subject to being directly hit by a major hurricane. Hurricanes are normal weather events and weather patterns determine the strength of the hurricanes as well as where they will hit. The only solution is prepare for the coming storm.
Absolutely right Mike! I remember right after the storm hit, there was some poor old fellow interviewed on TV saying, “These kinds of things only happen in the Midwest, they don’t happen here.”
Too bad he relied on his government to educate him. Doubt he learns any lessons as he has been conditioned by his government not to.
“John Holdren, director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, said occurrences such as Hurricane Sandy underscore the vulnerability of the nation’s electricity delivery system.” New technology is needed for the grid.
“The (new) technology’s central node is the smart electric meter, which gives consumers real-time electricity information with the intent of encouraging energy conservation.”
John says that one of these will protect you from the coming storm:

Mount one above anything you want protected, it’s a magic amulet.
I had one on my barn when the roof blew off in 2006! Holdren does not know what he is talking about! But we already knew that!
Underground utilities will help, but better yet relocation from the worst affected areas and building to withstand the forces would be the wisest choices! Look at the advances that have been made in Florida to mitigate storm damage! That state still has a long way to go but they have made a start.
