McKibben/LA Times Goes Full Racist

white America has fallen short. Election after election, native-born and long-standing citizens pull the lever for climate deniers

If they blamed the weather on some other ethnic group, they would probably be investigated by the justice department and the national institute of mental health.

Desperation – they are throwing everything at the wall and hoping something sticks.

  2. gator69 says:

Isn’t Thick Billy white? Does his self loathing have something to do with the fact that he pulled the lever with us deniers? 😆

  3. miked1947 says:

Maybe Thick Billy is not part of White America! He could be a plant that was sent by 51 Pegasi b
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/51_Pegasi_b
    To prepare us for conquest.

  4. darwin says:

McCrackpot is morally and cranially bankrupt.

  5. jimash1 says:

    It is racist.
I guess they figure that droves of sixth grade dropouts from central America will be easier to convince of their bullshit.

  6. Eric Simpson says:

So whites are attacking whites. A replay of my previous comment, pretending to be a white warmist: It’s true that the white man pioneered the industrial ways that are now bleeding our world dry of resources. Peak Oil is just maybe 5 years out, and across the board and frequent blackouts due to resource insufficiency, are also just around the bend. We shall see these things come to pass, and it will be proof of our wasteful indulgent unnatural ways, and then I will say “I told you so!” Now, we need to save our resources, and share.
Amazingly, there are some special whites that understand the dire situation, and are leading the way, calling for cuts in energy use, and cuts in the exorbitant extravagance of our sickly overluxurious lifestyles of whites, and redistribution of $ to non-whites.
What really bothers us, the, can I call us, the enlightened whites (and others), is the redneck-style less educated whites who drive big honking cars or worse, trucks, when a little Prius would do, or no car, that’s the idea; walk. Or they run air-conditioners when they could just use a wet towel. Or ridiculous things like energy-using Snow Machines for Ski resorts. It’s not what nature intended. It’s a sin, honestly. And these constant electrical distractions, that waste our vanishing energy and attention, like iPads iPhones iPods iTVs iWhatevers, just constantly blaring music and this and that. We need to get back, and I mean quickly, to local nature, to having just a few non-mechanized things, and simple dwellings. And there’s now a reason to do it. It’s called climate change. We need to change our evil, or, unnatural, ways, now! Or else, yes, the next thing you know, because of terrible climate change, we are going to find ourselves living in huts. Mark my word.

    • Brad says:

Judging by your rant, you want us to move back into huts, burning dung and sticks for warmth and to sanitize water for drinking. Sure, let’s get back to local nature, how do you propose to feed in cities and such? Or wait, if we cannot feed people there would be mass starvation and less human population to corrupt Mother Earth. This would be your utopia. We could wear hemp because killing animals is a sin. I suggest getting off the internet as the devices produced to allow you to post here corrupts mother earth. Don’t lecture, lead by example. Of course I could have misinterpreted your comments.

    • Justa Joe says:

Blacks & Hispanics don’t drive Priuses (or is that Prii). That kind of stuff is the domain of the most prosperous and spoiled of middle/upper middle class whites. I’m talking McMansion or swanky condo dwelling, ski trip taking, wine tasters.

The whole climate farce is convenient for the luddite ‘back to nature’ set. It provide a justification for everything they already belived.

    • pyeatte says:

I think most of us “white people” may have a better BS detector than “others”. Your clueless nature says a lot. We have been hearing for decades the concept of “peak oil” that is just around the corner. Truth is, with technology (modern fracking), peak oil and gas has been push out many decades, perhaps a century, and in the process things will get even cleaner than they are today, which is cleaner than anytime in history. I want more driving, not less – driving equals freedom. Your plan is a Project 21 hell. If you want that, go to NKO and starve – just don’t shove that puke off on people who want, and demand, to remain free. Of course if you and your ilk want to test the Second Amendment limits, feel free to try.

    • DP says:

Oh you have to love those special whites!

    • Andy Oz says:

Geez Eric. Most of the readers missed the word “pretending”.
You’ll need to put that in bold next time.
      🙂

    • Eric Simpson says:

Andy, lol on the video. That’s the way I feel about chopsticks too. But you’ve blown my cover! I was going to make a pretend reply to Brad’s comment above:
Except there won’t be any dung. Farm animals have too big a carbon footprint. Vegies are better for you anyway. No soda also (you can hear soda’s carbon footprint when you open a can). No burning sticks either. Yes, fire means co2, a lot. y And even if we allowed fires we’d run out of wood pretty quickly. But don’t worry, it’s going to be a big beautiful plain that we all live in. With plenty of cool fresh water glistening in the sun, and whole grain breads, and olive oil, and everyone will hold hands, together we will face the new world of freedom and wholesome joy.

    • Snafu says:

And these constant electrical distractions, that waste our vanishing energy and attention, like iPads iPhones iPods iTVs iWhatevers

So tell me. What did you write this rant with and how did it get onto the internet?

      • Andy Oz says:

Eric wrote a “pretend” rant from the viewpoint of a warmist. David Appell, Drewski, UknowImanidiot and the rest of them haven’t been around much lately to quote their losing position, as they’ve been freezing their a$$es off with the late snowstorms.
        😀

    • Jimmy Haigh. says:

      OK. After you.

  7. Robert of Ottawa says:

Does the LAT not preview articles before publishing them?

McKibben has gone off his rocker. Is he saying that it was the white folk who are to blame for lifting the rest of the world from abject poverty with industrialization?

  8. Andy DC says:

When I make an earlier remark about McKibben needing to be in a Lunatic Assylum I was half joking. OK, maybe one quarter joking. Now it is no joke at all.

  9. Bob Koss says:

Evidently McKibben had to send his screed across the country to get it published.
Here is the population make-up of Vermont where McKibben resides.

Among the 50 states and the District of Columbia, Vermont ranks:
    2nd highest proportion of non-Hispanic Whites (94.3%)
    2nd oldest median age[65]
41st highest proportion of Asians (1.3%)
49th highest proportion of Hispanics (1.5%)
48th highest proportion of Blacks (1.0%)
29th highest proportion of Native Americans (0.4%)
39th highest proportion of people of mixed race (1.7%)
28th highest proportion of males (49.2%)
24th highest proportion of females (50.8%)

  10. Eric Simpson says:

@Brad above in response to my rant, at 6:05pm he says: Sure, let’s get back to local nature, how do you propose to feed in cities and such? Or wait, if we cannot feed people there would be mass starvation and less human population to corrupt Mother Earth. This would be your utopia. My previous comment relevant to your point:
If this AGW scare doesn’t work, the liberal elite econuts will rebrand and repackage and reposition. Obama’s Science Czar’s John Holdren’s past call (before [note, in my comment above, climate change is essentially an afterthought, it is simply a pretense or “reason to do it,” to do what they really want {SERIOUS de-industrialization} even before any trumped up crisis existed] the AGW scare) to “de-develop the United States” & create a “stable low consumption economy” is the political expression of the leftist dream, and they will push and push for that. Driving it all is secular guilt, and the dream of their own Eden. But the raw feeling of their pastoral fantasy is not dressed in wonkish words such “a stable low consumption economy,” but in a moment of raw candor it is THIS:
“We have wished, we ecofreaks, for a disaster or for a social change to come and bomb us into Stone Age, where we might live like Indians in our valley, with our localism, our appropriate technology, our gardens, our homemade religion.” –Stewart Brand, Whole Earth Catalogue
They see draconian CO2 cuts as the ticket to fold up industrial civilization, if all goes “well.” But unfortunately, for them, and everybody else, it wouldn’t lead to this Utopian Eden. An Alabanian told the story of what happened to their country with the collapse of communism (and just some supply systems): “Even the trees lining the roads were chopped down.”
It would be no Garden of Eden. I could say that instead it would be like a Mad Max world — but it’d be much worse. No desert idealism of clean and clean-cut ruffians. Tons of people (at first), and just cutting discomfort, cold, disease, dirtiness, hunger, and violence.
You’d think at some point, let’s say after severe CO2 caps are implemented, and other problems ensued, people would see it coming, and repeal… But there would possibly be too much inertia, and once a series of collapses begin, it may be impossible to halt the descent.

I always thought Malthus’ first name was Thomas, not William. Ten to 1 he has stock in Trojan. This clown really needs to get a grip–uh, on second thought, he does, and probably quite often.

  12. Read McKibben’s first book? In there he complains about his quiet oneness with Nature in a lake swim was despoiled by a noisy water ski boat.

Rich people wanting to get as far away from other people – that is the very definition of environmentalism

  13. Sparks says:

There are two things I cant stand and that’s intolerance of other peoples cultures and the Dutch” ~ Nigel Powers

    • papertiger says:

Yeah. Them Dutch piss me off. Playing baseball now in SF – the Dutch versus the Dominican Rep, for the championship.

      The nerve.

  14. Michael says:

What exactly is McFibben saying by excluding Black America in the statement? Is it they don’t count? They don’t have an opinion? What?

The man is detestable, using race divide to single out white people to drive home a point, brings back memories of a parallel move where they called skeptics, deniers(Holocaust).

Climate spongers will do and say just about anything to ensure the climate gravy train is not derailed.
