Just think how much more ice there’d be in the Arctic if it had stayed there! Must have blew out of Baffin Bay and through the Strait Of Gibraltar.

    Steven,
Perhaps you’ve already heard about it:
We’ve got the COLDEST MARCH SINCE 1883 in Germany!
It’s official: this March in northeastern Germany is the coldest in 130 years, and could be the coldest since records began.
Not just one day, mind you. We’re talking about the entire month.
In Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg and Berlin, the DWD average temperatures measured up to almost minus two degrees, very close to the previous March-cold record of 1883.
The last four days of the month will determine whether there is a record. It would then be the coldest March since records began in 1881.
The cold will continue over Easter, said meteorologist Simon Trippler the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach.

Impressive! This matches well with the record cold/snowfalls in Russia and the coldest temperature ever recorded in the NH (also in Russia), that many say is not true because it was not “official”.
The site iceagenow.info has an impressive sequence of records since last October.
If you add the steadily increasing icecap of Antarctica (now with 16 months straight of positive anomalies) it becomes obvious the worldwide trend, showing a direct correlation with low radiations of the present solar grand minimum.
I believe this powerful cooling phase could possibly shorten the positive phase of the AMO and bring another La Nina this year, which would make 3 La Nina’s in a row, since 2010.

  3. Eric Simpson says:

Is that photoshopped? I didn’t think Venice ever gets ice.
This is like an ice age — in spring! And look at the collection of pictures at the link. It’s just insane snow and cold and ice, throughout Europe.

  4. Robertv says:

I’m looking for old paintings were you can see the Venice canals frozen over.If the past was much colder there must be plenty of them.Maybe it was forbidden to paint people having fun on the ice in Venice in the past.. Of course Venice never has been an important town in the past so who would make paintings of it.

  5. Jimbo says:

It is unprecedented! It’s worse than we thought!

UK Weather: Winter Depression Charity SAD Association ‘Inundated’ With Calls

A charity that deals with winter-related depression says it has been inundated with inquiries during the appalling weather gripping Britain.

The Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) Association said it had received an “unprecedented” nunber of calls after an “extraordinary year” of bad weather…….

This year, Helen Hanson of the SAD Association said she had been fielding inquires since July.

“We’ve had an absolutely unprecedented number of inquiries,” she said.

“I’m dealing with something like this every day, which is quite unusual for this time of year. It should have stopped.”

It is unprecedented! It’s worse than we thought!
..and entirely consistent with what we expect in a globally warming world.
Children just aren’t going to know what sanity is.

  6. Crashex says:

This is thin first year ice, so it’s really irrelevant. You can see the cracks in it.

I think there’s some missing Arctic ice in my adult beverage.
