The first three months of 2012 were the mildest on record in the US (slightly warmer than 1921) and so far in 2013 those same months have been among the coldest on record.
There has been no trend in January-March temperatures in the US over the last 90 years.
The 2013 numbers will come up some as the month progresses, but as it stands now the first three months of 2013 are ranked among the ten coldest.

According to the NOAA February 2013 was tied with 1944 as the 70th “warmest” February out of 119.
Which means 48 have been warmer. Not much sign of warming this February. The following list are the February’s warmer than 2013:
1896 1898 1907 1909 1915 1921 1924 1925 1926 1927 1930 1931 1932 1935 1938 1943 1945 1946 1950 1952 1953 1954 1957 1961 1962 1970 1974 1976 1977 1981 1983 1984 1986 1987 1990 1991 1992 1995 1996 1997 1998 1999 2000 2002 2005 2006 2009 2012
The term “global warming” doesn’t quite fit a February colder than 1896 and 1898 and 1907 ….
