Remember When Obama Was Going To Talk North Korea Into Disarming?

Looks like Obama’s appease and apologize strategy might not have been very successful. Apparently they were not frightened by an empty chair in front of a teleprompter.

With the current state of affairs in Washington, would anyone care about it being wiped off the face of the planet?

  2. gator69 says:

Actually he misread the telepotus, which said he was going to talk them into “fish farming”.

  3. Scarface says:

Maybe that’s why the WH tours are cancelled?

  4. Nerd says:

Appeasement never really work anyway. That’s why we got into WW2..

    Go for it!

He’s not doing all that good at talking the US into disarming, either, although the Supreme Court decision affirming second-amendment rights only went 5-4. One more rampant statist appointment to the court and they would have reinterpreted the second amendment, although who exactly they’re going to get to try to disarm rural America is a head-scratcher. Maybe they just plan to shoot it out using drones and DHS guys in MRAP vehicles.

Clarence Thomas’s concurring decision is a good read, by the way.

I care a great deal about the Washington being wiped off of the face of the earth! Where do I help?

I thought Ambassador Rodman was working on piece in the Far-Middle-East?

Here’s Wet Blanket Larry’s take. A contingency plan has been in place for many years. Depending on our allies and fair-weather friends, when North Korea crosses a certain threshold, they get nuked. In the meantime, carrot-and-stick diplomacy is the best option, and not because it’s going to change Mr Kim’s mind, because it won’t.

It’ll give us a fig leaf for the nuclear option in the near future. After the fact, we can say to the rest of the world: [email protected]

“Look you guys, we bent over backwards to find a peaceful solution. But it’s not working, and experience has shown that it probably never would have worked. In the meantime, the psychopathic Mr Kim had been making wild threats. And up until an hour ago, he was in a position to kill tens of thousands of South Koreans, Japanese, or whomever with a single warhead. Sorry, we couldn’t afford to wait any longer. We hope that you understand the gravity of the situation.”

What you call ‘appeasement’, I call being proactive. In terms of our relationships with the rest of the world, it’s a heck of a lot better than the Smirking Chimp’s self-indulgent ‘Axis of Evil’ bluster. With either approach, a part of NK will become a nuclear wasteland when the critical threshold is crossed. And that appears to be inevitable.
