What Is It About Obama?

Obama’s tenure as wannabe dictator has been an unmitigated disaster, with every indication that things are going to get much worse. But something about him makes a significant percentage of the US population go completely stupid.

I can’t figure out what it is. He strikes me as being by far the most untrustworthy person I have ever seen. What does half the country see in him? I know that he gives Chris Mathews a hard on, but what about the rest of them?

    ……Romney’s 47%

He is a Pop Culture Icon in a Pop Culture era.

    • Lou says:

Yup. Obama voters aren’t into serious issues… They cared about having first “black” president. Oh yeah, let’s not forget mainstream media that acts like propaganda machine for Democrat Party.

  3. PeterB says:

He’s someone who those ~47% can identify with – even the untrustworthiness, which they see as “street smarts”. They feel that they share his traits and values, or at least that they can aspire to having those traits – the “coolness”, having risen to celebrity, wealth and power through writing two books, rather than actual work. They do see him as a loser who got lucky through a combination of his street smarts, his name and ethnicity, and just luck – which is precisely why they think, “he’s someone like me, that means that people like me can get to the top” – and that goes not just for his being not part of the “while elite”, but also for those personality traits. He’s someone they can identify with and understand. Precisely the opposite of someone like Mitt Romney or Sarah Palin.

That doesn’t explain why he has the support of the rich progressives. Without their financing and media support the BHO phenomenon couldn’t exist.

They created the Myth! So they have to support their own creation!

      • timg56 says:

Progressives tend to think of themselves as being of better material and better educated – i.e. they know what’s best for society better than the people who make up that society. The problem they face is that many of those people who are not as capable of making the same wise, common sense decisions that progressives believe should be made also have a strong tendency to ignore progressives and do as they please. Hence their resorting to government. If the people won’t listen, get the government to make them do what you want.

Sometimes this actually works towards the good of society. I personally believe it does not more times than it does.

I don’t get it either. My parents are still completely on board with this guy, even realizing just how much Obamacare is going to hurt me and their granddaughter. I just don’t get it. I don’t know how my parents (father an MIT grad engineer) who are seemingly very intelligent and quite successful people, can be so completely stupid on these matters. It just blows me away. They live in an alternate universe. They completely ignore all the bad shit going on, and try to sugar coat things that will be going on. Advocating for some of the most egregious attacks on our liberty. And this coming from people who once apposed seat-belt and helmet laws because they didn’t like the government “protecting me from myself”. I often ask myself, “what the hell changed with them?”.

We live in bizarro world now…

    • Dan Kurt says:

They “have their cake and expect to eat it” or “don’t make waves or the good times will end.”

When the economy starts to really collapse during the near ( year or two ) future expect your parents to join you in blaming Obama and the Liberals/Progressives. Their time is coming.

“They completely ignore all the bad shit going on, and try to sugar coat things that will be going on.”

I’m not sure it is so much ignoring all the bad shit as the problem lies with Obama’s palace guard media refusing to report anything negative. Until your parents watch, read, listen to alternative media, they will unfortunately remain clueless. Tough one Squid…maybe you could take a nice long drive with Dad when Rush is on the radio. Baby steps….

Even smart people can be brainwashed. The 24/7 droning from progressives, without the proper balance, can warp just about anyone.

It requires less effort to ‘feel’ than, than it does to think’.

  5. Norm says:

He’s the “Music Man”…yup…right here in River City. A slick con artist. No other explanation.

  6. darwin says:

Like all leftist leaders, Obama relies on the propaganda from the media to portray him in a favorable light, diminish his opposition and push his agenda. If our media actually did their job no democrat would ever get elected.

Add the fact that some people have been conditioned to not voice any opposition to a black man for fear of being labeled a racist.

  7. This is why the rumor that he is an anti-christ has never completely vanished, because so many people are completely in love with him for no reason. Even when presented with proof that he’s a completely evil and incompetent President, they still love him. Liberalism really is a mental disorder, that’s the only logical conclusion.

  8. kirkmyers says:

Many of Obama’s supporters are people who want the government to take care of them. For them, “security” is much more important than freedom. What they don’t realize is that a prison is one of the most secure places in the world. Like cattle being led to the slaughter, they stand around in awe as their Messiah in the White House erects a prison around them, one bar at a time. Many of them will be quite content to live in his gulag.

Liberty-minded citizens have a big fight ahead. They face a threat from Obama’s new DHS domestic police force (the equivalent of Nazi Germany’s SS) and a threat from fellow citizens who support his totalitarian policies.

    • We have some big advantages though over Germany in the 1930s. We have electronic communications, and we have tens of millions of new gun owners since Obama started his coup.

These are both very effective deterrents to Obama making his big move.

  10. Justa Joe says:

The pop culture/media’s influence has grown to a point where it almost can not be countered. People follow the pop culture. If it can in unanmity sell that it’s hip and righteous to support Hussein while at the same time demonizing anyone that opposes him it’s a fait accompli. The sheeple don’t want to be on the wrong side of the news anchors, the columnists, the pop stars, and the late night comics.

It’s also the absolute unrelenting drum beat of demonization and marginalization of every entity that would oppose the aims of the Dems/Obama. It wears the opposition down over time. Even would be staunch Pubs become mealy mouthed and lose conficence. This may may be more effective than their constant fluffing up of Hussein.

In 1979 the government of Iran, a country of wonderful people friendly to the US – was replaced with a cult that became hostile towards everything not perceived as “revolutionary Islamic.”

The same thing is happening here in the US.

  12. phodges says:

Well the exact same thing is true of Republicans.

From the perspective of a plurality of Americans, who are neither left or right, democrat or republican, you are all well trained pavlovian dogs. You both attack the imagined positions of the other side, ignoring real issues while politicians from both “sides” uniformly sell out the country.

Sure Obama is destroying America now while supposed liberals cheer him on…but so called conservatives are silent when a republican follows the exact same policies

  13. gator69 says:

We have a bunch of lazy know nothings. They simply accept the pablum fed to them by the alphabet stations, and dare not fire a synapse to think for themselves. They would rather be told what to do as long as the nanny is there to take care of them. I have a good friend who is that way with women, divorce ink is barely dry before he is preparing for the next wedding. Dependency is only attractive to some, and you have to wonder about them, and why.

It requires more effort to ‘think’ than it does to ‘feel’.

  14. Smokey says:

What people don’t seem to understand is the fact that with 98% of the media totally supporting Obama and his $Billion campaign, and just about every celebrity fawning over Obama 24/7 at every opportunity for 4 years, it was actually a very close election. If Romney had those advantages he would have won in a landslide; by twenty points, at least.

And Hurricane Sandy came at exactly the right time for Obama to put himself on TV around the clock during the final days of the election — with zero equal time for Romney. Exit polling showed that more than half of all voters did not make up their minds until election day.

There is a bank of TV’s where I excercize, and every one of them showed Obama addressing the nation about Sandy, on different channels, right up to and including election day. Money cannot buy that kind of publicity, because Obama’s opponent would have required equal time.

And then there was the massive voter fraud, with TV stations ‘inadvertently’ broadcasting pre-taped videos showing that Obama won — two weeks before the election! And massive voting by illegal aliens [I have a Mexican friend who told me that the Spanish radio stations were encouraging Hispanic illegals to vote, and promising that nothing would happen to them. And the poll worker who was finally indicted for voting six times for Obama; you can be certain she was not the only one.] And electronic voting machine fraud that showed the vote went to Obama, when the citizen had voted for Romney. Even after repeated complaints to poll workers, the Romney vote kept coming up “Obama”. That same voter fraud was reported in multiple locations.

Steven Goddard is right about gun owners and electronic communication. I wonder, though… will they be enough?

  15. If you want to start a long-term storyline, look at the list here: http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/obameter/rulings/promise-broken/

“…The Obameter is following more than 500 promises made by President Barack Obama in the 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns…”

Current count of broken promises: 119 (about 22 percent).
