On 9/11/2001, nineteen men armed only with box cutters brought America to a standstill.
This was made possible because several months earlier gun confiscation advocates created new rules which forced pilots to fly disarmed. The hijackers obviously knew that the pilots were disarmed, or they never would have had any hope of success.
As a result of the actions of these gun confiscation nuts, America has spent trillions of dollars, fought two wars, and given up her sanity and Constitutional rights.
Who are the real terrorists? Piers Morgan is far more of a threat to liberty than Osama bin Laden ever was.
to be or not to be
Would pilots normally carry concealed weapons anyway?
The possibility that the pilots had weapons would be enough of a deterrent to make planning such an attack untenable..
But what were the actual percentages? Because if it was something like 1 in 100, with all the other things that could have potentially gone wrong, I don’t think such odds would have deterred bad guys.
And how would they have access to those statistics?
LSM would have been more than happy to pass on that information!
Senate panel passes bill to make it a federal crime to engage in “straw purchasing,” or buying of guns on behalf of those who are prohibited from owning them.

The first three comments are priceless.
It already is a federal crime!
This post makes way too much sense for Piers to understand.
Some pilots ignored the rules and continued to pack. Unfortunately not enough knew what the threat really was and stopped carrying…
miked1947 has the logo of my hypothetically safer airline. Pigs’ll Fly Airways – pigskin seats, bacon or pork meals, potatoes and corn snacks all fried in pork fat, etc. Special pig lard filled safety bags (replacing airbags) in case of a crash, safety shoots are lubricated with the same.
Another important issue was secure cockpits. My understanding is that the Israelis were way ahead of us on this one. There’s a separate entrance/exit for the cockpit. And traffic between the cockpit and the passenger area is impossible. Wannabe terrorists simply cannot get into the cockpit once the plane is in the air.
Yes, but it is more practical to have twelve years of war, spend trillions of dollars and destroy the bill of rights – then to retrofit airplanes.
