Einstein : “If the data doesn’t match the theory, change the data”

Phil Jones and NOAA said there was no warming in the US.

February 04, 1989   Last week, scientists from the United States Commerce Department’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said that a study of temperature readings for the contiguous 48 states over the last century showed there had been no significant change in average temperature over that period. Dr. (Phil) Jones said in a telephone interview today that his own results for the 48 states agreed with those findings.

In 1999, Hansen said that he didn’t see any warming in the US.

Empirical evidence does not lend much support to the notion that climate is headed precipitately toward more extreme heat and drought. The drought of 1999 covered a smaller area than the 1988 drought, when the Mississippi almost dried up. And 1988 was a temporary inconvenience as compared with repeated droughts during the 1930s “Dust Bowl” that caused an exodus from the prairies, as chronicled in Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath…..

in the U.S. there has been little temperature change in the past 50 years, the time of rapidly increasing greenhouse gases — in fact, there was a slight cooling throughout much of the country

NASA GISS: Science Briefs: Whither U.S. Climate?

The measured data actually shows US temperatures cooling over the last 90 years, and that didn’t match the theory – so around the year 2000 NOAA and NASA simply changed the data.

Einstein was just joking.

Yep. And if they’ve done this to the U.S. climate data, which is supposed to be among the best in the world, and where one of the two main political Parties is strongly skeptical of climate alarmism, what do you suppose they’ve done to the data in other countries, like Australia, where climatology has become so overwhelmingly politicized that we find stories like these?

Not long ago, NASA / Hansen was saying,
“it is clear that 1998 did not match the record warmth of 1934” in the 48 contiguous United States, and, “in the U.S. the warmest decade was the 1930s and the warmest year was 1934.”

I am building a folder on Data Tampering for a day when I can say to AGW supporters: “Told you so.” This is entry #41.

How in the world can anyone in their right mind claim that AGW is consistent with and supported by science? Oh, wait…

    Change the data? ? Einstein?

  5. A.D. Everard says:

If only Einstein could have seen ahead to the ones who weren’t/aren’t joking.

I find it amazing that scientists can change the data and still call themselves scientists. I guess it’s because they never were scientists to begin with.

Yesteryear we had thought experiments because the concepts were beyond practical validation. Today we have virtual science and computer modeling because we are beyond practical experiments.

They’re lying, but only for a good cause.
Elitists know what is best for us all and you and I just can’t comprehend the destruction man has created and the pure thought of the great minds that’ll save us.

Torture the data until it confesses!
