1975 : Climatologists Were Worried That Politicians Wouldn’t Let Them Melt The Arctic In Time To Save The Planet

I guess we didn’t have enough Psychocrats in Congress in those days.
I remember reading this as a young man, and thinking even then that it was a very bad idea. I lived through the 1970’s ice age scare, but sadly did not buy the t-shirt. Still have my red, white and blue bicentennial deerskin ski gloves, with matching scarf and hat! I was quite a site in the Alps back then, like Old Glory on bad acid.
What is it in climatology that makes people complete megalomaniacs?
They’re doing it now!
Reblogged this on CraigM350.
I remember that 1975 Peter Gwynne story myself.
In 1975 I had no suspicion that pseudo-climatology and pseudo-cosmology were linked by fear and loathing that humans might use forbidden knowledge of the energy source that vaporized Hiroshima and Nagasaki on 6 and 9 Aug 1945 to destroy life on Earth.
Here’s the rest of the story: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10640850/Peaceful_Resolution.pdf
