Weather channel this morning. There too – so much excitement about this heat wave (high pressure ridge); from Phoenix to Death Valley to Phoenix, they promoted their predictions of record breaking heat. Seemed to slip right by them, as one mention was made of “not for one-hundred years,” has it been this hot – on their segue into Obama’s climate change proposals yesterday.
Then, they really got excited.
A new study coming our way soon, “how more CO2 in the atmosphere builds a base for historic high pressure ridges.”
The high temperature in Phoenx today was 107. That is still 15 degrees from their all time high of 122 set on June 26, 1990.
Meanwhile the DC media has been wetting its pants over our big “heatwave”. Last three days DC was 92, 94 and 91. Very garden variety temperatures for DC in late June. Only 88 tomorrow and even cooler over the weekend.
Vegas in the calendar girl of the UHI effect. I lived there for over 50 years and watched it grow as the fastest growing region in the country.
