Back in April, the USGS released a report on Dust-Bowlification that concluded drier conditions were projected to accelerate dust storms in the U.S. Southwest. In large parts of Texas and Oklahoma now, the drought is more intense than it was during the Dust Bowl of the 1930s.
In 2007, Science (subs. req’d) published research that “predicted a permanent drought by 2050 throughout the Southwest” — levels of aridity comparable to the 1930s Dust Bowl would stretch from Kansas to California.

Looks like they had up to twelve inches of permanent drought this week.
Apparently Australia is having a terrible drought too. Funny how the rainfall map doesn’t show that at all. Weather bureaus are now politically compromised and full of left wing climate graduates.

When I was a climatolgy student thirty years ago, I wrote a paper on Desertification. I dilligently collected the very best sceintific data from universities and government agencies from around the globe, and concluded from the ‘consensus’ that we should spend vast fortunes on mitigation.
Globally, the deserts have not expanded. This is one reason why I do not trust ‘consensus’ science, universities or governments.
