Some Hockey Stick

Prior to Hansen et al tampering with the temperature record, 1970 was about the same temperature as 1900. The graph below was generated by the National Academy of Sciences in 1975.ScreenHunter_394 May. 21 04.37

The next graph is NCAR’s 1975 version.

Keep at them Steven, I’m sure that it’s these little historical anomalies that irk them the most.

People were shorter a century ago, and looked at thermometers from a lower angle, causing them to record slightly higher temps than today. Homer figured this out all on his own.

No, they were mercury thermometers, which poisoned them. They didn’t have the brains to figure out that their coal furnaces were making the seasons change.

      Thank Heaven for Progress!

The shorter people theory should be tested by examining 19th Century photographs. Were pictures and other items on the walls hung lower than they would be today? Or did the olden people, lacking our brilliance, hang them high where they were more difficult to see?

The height of cave drawings and hieroglyphs might be helpful too.

A booming field of science. Photo Environmentalism. Grants please! Make mine a double.

Those thermometers were wrong. We have better thermometers near air conditioning exhausts, airport runways and car parks. Why do you deniers deny the science?
