Experts tell CBS News that it has never been hot in Detroit before.

Fascism, this garbage is a direct result of fascism:

Steven, checkout this article and photo. http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html
Great pic. Sent it to my Michigan Tech buddies. I remember seeing pictures of 2-story outhouses in the Upper Peninsula in an old Michigan magazine.
I also noticed how they used “heat index” to inflate the temperatures indicated on the graphic. Disgusting.
They have to be incredibly stupid to push the global warming idea right now.
My money is on “desperate”.
That’s exactly right. This is all about the record cold. You’d think CBS would have learned their lesson after the embarrassment of pushing that arctic melting story in July (due to the one foot melt on top of ice that was gone one day later), but, alas, no. They’re still at it. You can tell NOAA and the usual alarmists had some sort of strategy to deal with all the extreme cold stories and that was to hype up the warm stories: bringing up this 4th warmest year in history BS which first came out in December, and spending more time talking about California drought than the freezing temperatures everywhere else. These are hard days for the alarmists. Now they have another la nina year to try to spin.
The cause for all of the alarming headlines: 1.12°F (+/- 0.16°F) over 100 years.
“For the year 2013, the globally-averaged annual combined land and ocean surface temperature was 0.62°C (1.12°F) above the 20th century average of 13.9°C (57.0°F).”

They push it now because the year just ended, I’m wondering if they will adopt a year end policy to coincide with budget planning and use June 30th. I bet they’ve considered that.
“They have to be incredibly stupid to push the global warming idea right now.”
Oh, they are, Steven, they are!
Our local (Raleigh, NC; 1/22/14) paper noted in a “Brief” article on page 3A that NOAA called 2013 the 4th hottest year since 1880, NASA, which “calculates records in a different manner,” called it the 7th. Then, “Both agencies said nine of the 10th warmest years on record have happened in the 21st century. The hottest year was 2010, according to NOAA.”
Read this while eating breakfast. Almost lost it.
All I know is what I read in the Nuisance and Disturber.
So—question: maybe – just MAYBE – the N&O might – just might – be on the liberal side?
Just asking.
Seems like they are a bit left of the paper when the Daniels’ owned it. When your roots are a Roosevelt cabinet secretary, a son that married Truman’s daughter and then the paper goes left with McClatchey? Besides, they’ve always had a baby blue leaning.
“They have to be incredibly stupid to push the global warming idea right now.”
Their approach is definitely to flood the zone with this kind of crap whenever it gets cold lest the rubes forget about or begin to doubt Glow-Bull warming.
They must be calculating the hottest year using their scare-tactic “heat index” instead of real temperature measurements.
However in all fairness, if they are gonna scare the rubes using heat index to make 2013 one of the 10 hottest years, they should balance that heat-index with their scare-tactic “wind-chill” for the winter. Thus they can have both one of the coldest winters ever and one of the hottest years ever in one neat package.
Just think what that will do for their funding!!
/sarc
We did not need the phony balony “heat index” to create those actual temperatures in the 1930’s. The raw temperatures did just fine on their own.
And here I was thinking that 2013 had been cooler than the last couple of years in Richmond. Guess I was really fooled.
You and people all over the USA. Here in the Sound Shore area, folks in TN, etc.
In the Sound Shore area where I live, in August, on several occasions, I closed my window in my bedroom as the early morning temps in the room were 66º F. Did I forget to mention in August? It was certainly nice and comfy for sleeping.
These people will never give up, they are addicted to the money and the power.
CBS is (in)famous for reporting known lies…
“Also referred to as “memogate,” Rathergate is the scandal surrounding the 60 Minutes II story aired on CBS in 2004 about George W. Bush’s National Guard service. Memos providing the basis for many of the claims in the report were supposedly created in 1973 and found in the files of the late Lieutenant Colonel Jerry B. Killian. Bloggers and blog readers investigated the suspicious looking documents which were made available to the public on the CBS website and found them to almost certainly be poor forgeries created on a modern era word processor. Four CBS employees lost their jobs over the report. Dan Rather famously defended the report, claiming the memos might be “fake, but accurate” and later went into early retirement.”

Too bad noone will lose their job this time.
