I thought it was: “It’s climate change, stupid!”
Anyway, I hear that in the ’67 game a ref tried to blow his metal whistle, but then the whistle immediately froze to his lips and pulled off lip skin, making his mouth look like it was crusted with like cherry gelato. So, no more whistle for that game. This time maybe the refs will bring some kind of clown horn or something so they can be heard. But, and this is just another way that the modern world takes all the fun out of things, I’m thinking they could get plastic whistles now. If only we could be bombed back into the stone age like the climate hippies want. Then no plastic whistles. Then we could watch the big screens with the refs waddling around with their honking horns. Or not, I think there’s plastic in those horns. No, it’s rubber. Did they have rubber during the stone age? The rubber age? Well, this game is going to be a lot colder than ’67. My guess is that the refs are going to freeze solid. They are going to have to roll out the newfangled robo-refs.
I guess the upside is that the beer will stay cold.

“A tipping point,” where you can tip over your beer, but then keep on drinking. I should say: keep on spooning.
@rah: lol on the rubber covers on whistles in 1970. Did they not have those rubber covers in ’67? And why not just plastic whistles? Didn’t they actually have plastic even way back in 1970? Maybe plastic whistles would just “not be authentic” enough, like pro baseball insists players use real wood bats, for that authentic wood feeling.
Even back when I was in Jr. HS and playing football in 1970 some refs had a black rubber covering over their shiny chrome metal whistles that allowed them to comfortably hold the whistle in their mouths
I remember reading that some fans died of hypothermia watching the game In Green Bay. The NFL vowed never again to hold a playoff game in those conditions. Those who won’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
Ah, the genius of sports fans…
