History Is A Thing Of The Past In The US

On January 1, I made a post showing the 1997 version of GISS global temperatures

The archived link now leads to a blank page, as does all other GISS captures from 1997. All of these links worked four days ago, all now lead to blank pages.

  1. Thanks for checking these out. I have used the webarchive links previously during debate with true believers, noticed the data missing several days ago.

I wonder who might have been responsible for this wholesale removal of historic data from the www?

Couldn’t possibly be anyone in the #Consensus Climate Science establishment could it? No Government could be party to such massive data removal I would hope.

  2. Neil Gibson says:

Orwell’s Winston Smith at work – this is scary!
“Do you realize that the past, starting from yesterday, has been actually abolished? If it survives anywhere, it’s in a few solid objects with no words attached to them, like that lump of glass there. Already we know almost literally nothing about the Revolution and the years before the Revolution. Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book has been rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street and building has been renamed, and every date has been altered. And that process is continuing day-by-day and minute-by-minute.”

  3. Robertv says:

Burning the books. Where did we see that before ?

  4. NikFromNYC says:

    http://archive.org/about/exclude.php

“The Internet Archive is not interested in offering access to web sites or other Internet documents whose authors do not want their materials in the collection. To remove your site from the Wayback Machine, place a robots.txt file at the top level of your site (e.g. http://www.yourdomain.com/robots.txt).

The robots.txt file will do two things:

It will remove documents from your domain from the Wayback Machine.
It will tell us not to crawl your site in the future.
To exclude the Internet Archive’s crawler (and remove documents from the Wayback Machine) while allowing all other robots to crawl your site, your robots.txt file should say:

    User-agent: ia_archiver
    Disallow: /

Robots.txt can be used to block access to the whole domain, or any file or directory within. There are a large number of resources for webmasters and site owners describing this method and how to use it, including http://www.robotstxt.org/.

If you cannot put a robots.txt file up, read our exclusion policy. If you think it applies to you, send a request to us at [email protected].”

  5. Louis Hooffstetter says:

This is outright fraud. This is what happens when a weasel is put in charge of guarding the hen house. Isn’t Gavin Schmidt in charge at NASA now? Whoever is responsible for this needs to be fired immediately.

  6. Knut Aasen says:

I have lots of data series from GISS Global temperature.
Allmost complete series from Aug. 2005

    http://www.knuta.no/GISS_en_studie_i_endringer-10151s.html
The page is written in Norwegian, but the grafhs are in english.

  8. Comrade Stalin says:

Da, tovarisch, NASA makes Comrade Stalin proud!

The most common examples of photograph alteration and falsification come from communist Russia. Unwanted persons, so-called “enemies of the people”…

    Falsification of history
    http://www.tc.umn.edu/~hick0088/classes/csci_2101/false.html

Now it’s unwanted data as an enemy of the people.

  9. Gail Combs says:

Yes, I also noticed not only does the link: http://data.giss.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/gistemp/gistemp_station.py?id=425746930020&data_set=1&num_neighbors=1

    come up with:

    Page Not Available

    — Please Note —
Due to technical problems with the GISS webserver, some interactive content, such as creating scientific plots using web forms, is disabled.

Also Wunderground had also scrubbed all their back historical weather data although that now seems to be back up and running.

  10. Hugh K says:

And these same people want to convince you and I to put big gov in charge of our medical history.

  11. DaveH says:

What is really sad is that the Internet Archive has a pretty strict standard for compliance with governmental requests to remove data.
    They follow the Oakland Policy:
    http://www2.sims.berkeley.edu/research/conferences/aps/removal-policy.html

    Type of removal request
    Requests by governments.

    Response
Archivists will exercise best-efforts compliance with applicable court orders.
Beyond that, as noted in the Library Bill of Rights,
‘Libraries should challenge censorship in the fulfillment of their responsibility to provide information and enlightenment.’

  12. Eric Simpson says:

Incredible! But why I am not surprised. My wuwt comment:
I got a bunch of quotes from these guys saying that they should make things up, such as Schneider saying they should “offer up scary scenarios” and find the balance between effectiveness and honesty. Of course, it implicitly clear that honesty is not effective. I get a sense that the words of Schneider and others has pervaded the body politic among climatologists. Understand that circa 1990 a boatload of cash flowed in to lavishly establish the newly reconfigured field of climatology. And the field of climatology was tasked not with finding out whether CO2 was causing dangerous warming, but with convincing the public of that. That was the mission. Convince the public, not of the truth, but of the “scary scenarios.” Modern climatology was given a public relations / marketing task from it’s ~ 1990 inception, and told to lie. There is no science there. It’s wall to wall bs meant to support their public relations mission.
    ……………………………………………. ………
“It doesn’t matter what is true, it only matters what people believe is true.” -Paul Watson, Greenpeace
“We have to offer up scary scenarios… each of us has to decide the right balance between being effective and being honest.” -Stephen Schneider, lead ipcc author, 1989
“Unless we announce disasters no one will listen.” -Sir John Houghton, ex ipcc chair
“I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of .. how dangerous it is.” -Al Gore
“Only sensational exaggeration makes the kind of story that will get politicians’ — and readers’ — attention.” -Monika Kopacz, Atmospheric Scientist
“The only way to get our society to truly change is to frighten people with the possibility of a catastrophe.” -Daniel Botkin, ex Chair of Enironmental Studies, UCSB
“We’ve got to ride the global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing.” -leftist Senator Tim Wirth, 1993

    • X says:

It hurts to read what these people said/wrote, but it becomes a slap in the face when they actually do things to materialize it.
The story of “Death penalty for global warming deniers”
      http://joannenova.com.au/2012/12/death-threats-anyone-austrian-prof-global-warming-deniers-should-be-sentenced-to-death/
is a clear sign that we could be crossing some dangerous lines already.

    • Eric Simpson says:

Insane. Worse than Hitler’s Goebbels. Iceagenow did a piece a few days ago titled: 15 children die in Bangladesh ‘cold snap.’ I quoted: “Every time someone dies as a result of floods in Bangladesh, an airline executive should be dragged out of his office and drowned.” -George Monbiot, UK Ecojournalist. And I said: OK, then who should be dragged out now? Hansen? Mann? Gleick? Or perhaps Monbiot himself?

Anyway, X, the quote from your link: “I have always been opposed to the death penalty in all cases… Even mass murderers [like Breivik] should not be executed, in my opinion. GW deniers fall into a completely different category from Behring Breivik. They are already causing the deaths of hundreds of millions of future people. We could be speaking of billions, but I am making a conservative estimate.” -leftist Professor Richard Parncutt

?: “They are already causing the death of hundreds of millions of future people.” You know what, the price of energy is shooting up all over the place, like in the UK where deaths are being attributed now to the cold especially among the elderly because they can’t afford heating because of the warmist policies. If anybody is guilty of capital crimes, it’s the scare mongers who have made up the knowingly false “scary scenarios” to try to dupe the public into implementing their draconian energy cuts that would lead to widespread death and destruction, exactly like the 83% CO2 cuts in the Democrats 2009 cap & trade bill that passed the U.S. House (no, Obama didn’t get his grimey hands on the bill).

      • gator69 says:

Prof Parncutt was born in Austria? You don’t say…

        • Eric Simpson says:

Lol because this professor of “Systematic Musicology” was apparently born in Australia but got a professorship in Austria. I’m sure the translators of his insane quotes found it difficult enough having to translate from Australian into English, but from Austrian as well! Lol.

  13. iurockhead says:

“The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.”

    -H. L. Mencken

    Still applies.

    • Eric Simpson says:

“The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false face for the urge to rule it.” -H. L. Mencken

And that also still applies. And this, well it’s not directly related, but it caught my attention: “The Kyoto theorists have put the cart before the horse. It is global warming that triggers higher levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, not the other way around.” -Andrei Kapitsa, a Russian geographer and Antarctic ice core researcher. If you want to know exactly what he is talking about, watch this 3 1/2 minute video which exposes Al Gore’s bs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WK_WyvfcJyg&iii=CO2Lag

  14. X says:

100 years ago we had the rise of totalitarism all over the world, does *history* happen in “cycles” too?

  15. Don says:

Hmmm. Lot of this going on of late it would appear. The tweets/reports from the stranded tourists in the Antarctic seem to have abruptly stopped about the time they realized they were lost/in bad weather/risking their lives/whatever. Delete/Deny/Defer information that does not conform to the message.
