Only A Complete Moron Would Attempt To Take A Ship To The Coast Of Antarctica Under These Conditions
This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Bookmark the permalink.
Lease of Russian ship, crew, and supplies: $1,500,000
26 paying passengers for the trip of a lifetime: $52,000
Three failed ice breakers: $175,000
Chinese rescue helicopter: $30,000
Watching alarmist grantologists spend New Years trapped in nonexistent ice while the world mocks them, PRICELESS!
Happy New Year to all my fellow pseudoscience deniers!

They have been trying all day. Huge carbon footprint
All of those expense will be paid by the taxpayers they seek to deceive.
This is a small reminder of the potential danger of promoting falsehoods as settled science.
May the publishers of textbooks that replaced Lord Francis William Aston’s rigorously valid “nuclear packing fraction” with von Weizsacker’s seriously flawed “nuclear binding energy” watch this drama unfold and correct their errors before there is a much worse disaster.
Odd post. Only pic shows. Meaning?
Seriously, you don’t know how to interpret the image?
Perhaps this will help if you know how to read graphs: http://arctic.atmos.uiuc.edu/cryosphere/IMAGES/seaice.anomaly.antarctic.png
They should have gone to Russia instead. At least there you get cabbage soup in prison.
If they were such intrepid adventurers, couldn’t they have walked the 6 kms to the Chinese rescue boat?
Hmm… What did Shackleton do? Oh.. never mind.. that was THEN… this is NOW…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernest_Shackleton
Ice flows can start breaking up and moving and then reforming with out warning. (Which is how the two vessels got stranded in the first place) 3Km out from each ship and suddenly you are walking on a free flowing chunk of ice and no knowing where it will go. Very dangerous thing to do.
They looked at the menu and decided against risking their lives.

Perhaps conditions are worse than we have seen in pics.
They had marked off an area next to the ship where they determined the ice was stable. Perhaps a walk of several miles was considered too perilous.
I think even the chopper rescue will be quite dangerous. Winds were reported to be too high. Guess we’ll see.
How dangerous can it be if they are going to make two trips to pick up LUGGAGE? RESCUING LUGGAGE !!!
Depending on the wind and currents under the ice, gaps can open up suddenly and then close up again just as suddenly. Also, it seems that all of the party members are not experienced in polar and bad weather conditions, and the party members include the wife and two children of the leader.
Does anyone know if penguin livers are toxic to humans?
Well, killing and eating a penguin will cost them $10,000 and guarantee a US “rescue”, with 1 year of Oh-Bomb-Ya’s gracious hospitality thrown-in for good measure.

FINES FOR TOUCHING?
**********************
__________
QUESTION: What are the fines for touching penguins? Who gets this
money?
ANSWER from Guy Guthridge on February 10, 1995
The Antarctic Conservation Act says an American citizen may not
“take” wildlife (and the word take generally means harassment) unless
the citizen is a scientist who has applied for and obtained a permit for
important scientific work.
If you were to touch a penguin and didn’t have a permit, you could be
fined up to $5,000. If you were to maliciously injure or kill a penguin,
you could be fined up to $10,000 and go to jail for up to a year.
The money does not go into any agency, but into the U.S. Treasury
under “miscellaneous receipts.” See NSF regulation at 45 CFR
672.23(b), which states “Payment shall be made by … a cashier’s check
or certified check in the amount of the penalty assessed in the final
order, payable to the Treasurer, United States of America.”

What if it is consensual, and the penguin is of age? 😉
Not a problem. Put up a wind turbine to whack a penguin.
[Mount it low!]
Might need to toss the penguin into the rotor….
And a penguin run over by an icebreaker ?
Stupid is as stupid does.
“Pleasant it is, when on the great sea the winds trouble the waters, to gaze from shore upon another’s great tribulation: not because any man’s troubles are a delectable joy, but because to perceive what ills you are free from yourself is pleasant. Pleasant it is also to behold great encounters of warfare arrayed over the plains, with no part of yours in the peril. But nothing is more delightful than to possess lofty sanctuaries serene, well fortified by the teachings of the wise, whence you may look down upon others and behold them all astray, wandering abroad and seeking the path of life: the strife of wits, the fight for precedence, all labouring night and day with surpassing toil to mount upon the pinnacle of riches and to lay hold on power. O pitiable minds of men, O blind intelligences! In what gloom of life, in how great perils is passed all your poor span of time! – Lucretius (On the Nature of Things, ~ 60 BC)
Pleasant it is when South Carolina scores 34, and Wisconsin scores 24.
Good thing Wisconsin’s QB was knocked out of the game by a shot meant to hurt him. But still a good game.
Quarterback sucked. It was Wisconsin’s running game that kept them in it. I think Phillips was better than Stave, anyway.
“Meant to hurt him.” There’s a reason why QBs give themselves up when a tackler approaches. Stave tried to stretch it for extra yards, and paid the price. That’s football.
Some reports say that Stave was hit by Victory Hampton. I think Victor Hampton has a new nickname.
The hippie commune on ice might receive sympathy if they weren’t doing all this to screw everybody else.
That’s the way I see it. I have no sympathy for people for people who are trying to ruin my life.

If possible, this clown is a greater TWIT than Obama’s Pajama Boy
The Left has spawned a generation of self-absorbed, largely useless, clueless twinks who could not find their own way out of a sack with a chainsaw.
The smallest generation.
After listening to that, I’m reassured that if they had replicated the Titanic’s voyage rather than Mawson’s, they simply self selected themselves for extinction. Of course the waiting is unbelievably tense. Will they make it?? Oh the humanity!
Unfortunately, all circuses must come to an end.

….Send out the clowwwwns…..
That crybaby should check to see if there’s a model airplane designer on the ship.
