   Sport utility wagons powered by flatulent livestock seemed to be the main cause. The world was saved when the Federal government banned feeding legumes to stock animals.

   Since 1860 here’s been ups and downs in the temperature, but if CO2 actually has such magical warming properties, and that in fact we had been going through a hockey stick runaway warming period during the 20th century, obviously we should have had a dramatically increased rate of warming during the later high CO2 periods of warming, as from 1975 to 1998.

   But no. The rate of warming in the 19th century (LOW CO2) and 20th century (high CO2!) is … the same. Where is the signal for CO2? Um, it’s not there. CO2 isn’t doing anything. The Chicken Little Brigade needs to go back to the drawing board with their “established 19th century physics” which is behind their notions about the greenhouse effect. Or they’ll come up with more and more epicycle style excuses to explain away the fact that the evidence is that CO2 is doing ZERO.

   I would not trust Phil Jones. He can’t even use Excel or ANY other graphical program on his computer to make a graph and fit a linear trend. What a marooon.

   I’d argue that those numbers are a little off. I average up the HADCRUT4 data and compare the High points and low points (YYYY); Average annual anomalies (DATA); with the (Span) in years; the (CHANGE) increase/decrease in temperature ; and change in (CO2 ppm

   YYYY … DATA .. SPAN . CHANGE . CO2ppm
   1850 ….. -0.26
   1878 …… 0.15 …… 28 …… 0.4 …….. 1
   1911 ….. -0.44 …… 33 ….. -0.6 ……. 5
   1944 …… 0.27 …… 33 …… 0.7 ……. 15
   1977 ….. -0.12 …… 33 ….. -0.4 ……. 30
   2010 …… 0.66 …… 33 …… 0.8 ……. 60

   I find the 33 year span between the high points and low points to be at the very least an interesting 66 year cycle. CO2 doesn’t seem to correlate very well.

   They must have had some mighty fine thermometers back then – I can’t get even half a degree agreement out of any three thermometers including relatively expensive thermocouple and IR thermometers.

   Damn fine science producing 1/1000 of a degree accuracy !

   He says the 1975-98 rise was anthropogenic because he can’t find a solar or volcanic explanation, but the first two rises were not anthropogenic because……
