Obviously there is a difference between imagining & being obsessed beyond rational thinking.
Interesting, how that naivety is born out in this 1871 example ; a prelude to Warmist thinking!

Reblogged this on Tallbloke's Talkshop and commented:
A trillion dollars or more of incentives really gets the imaginations of the climate crowd going.

That link brings to mind a meeting at an environmental agency that I worked in back in the ’90s.

The meeting was to discuss the environmental impacts of a proposed new plant and the control technologies to be used.

During one part of the meeting, an industry representative (an engineer) was finishing up his presentation and said:

“And our wastewater treatment processes will bring the pH down to 7 before any water is released.”

(for anyone interested, the discussion was about scrubbing sulfur out of waste gas by running it through a caustic solution)

A very high agency official stood up, slammed her hands down on the desk and loudly pronounced:

“THAT’S NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!! If you can bring it down to 7 you can bring it down to ZERO!!”

Imagine the stunned faces in the room, eyes darting around, trying to not laugh and to find a way of letting this very powerful person know she sounded like an idiot.

The sad post script to this is that, nearly every time I try to tell this story, most people look at me with blank stares. People with college degrees working in technical fields. I hate having to explain a joke.

Thank you sir a very interesting clipping, it would seem that the more things change the more they stay the same. I’m thinking it was Mark Twain that said ‘ There are lies, damned lies and then there are politicians’ Usually more than half the population are sucked in by the propaganda but this BS has been too long in it’s forthcoming and the scare is fading. This is most likely due to long memories and common sense, Paris may be the final nail in the coffin, as the world refuses to warm as predicted, and with the sun in hiatus even some politicians will start to go Hmmmmm.

And let us not forget that President Obama, when he flew in to make his personal pitch for the Chicago Olympic bid, was brushed off by the Europeans. They were apparently quite unimpressed.

The BIG picture however is this: the powers that be want people to stop reading. The social justice warriors (SJW) are their shock troops. The low information voters (LIV) are their army. The Hugo awards within the science fiction genre was a battle that took place within a targeted battleground. The goal is to promote books that are poorly written, uninteresting, and boring. The SJWs however don’t care about those 3 aspects — they just want to promote their agenda.

Goal of the powers that be — an ignorant public that does not read and has the attention span of a gnat. Their current war has been going on for the past 100 years.

    So far they are succeeding.
