We here in central Indiana didn’t have a single 100 deg. F day this summer and very few days it got up to the 90s. Really a nice mild, though wetter than normal spring and summer. Also had fewer than normal severe thunderstorms this year.

Here today it was already 62 deg. F at 09:00 and forecast to get up to 66 today. Not normal by any means but I’ll take it because I know ole man winter is coming to stay for awhile later this month. Despite the warmer than usual temps our skies suck and I’m just hoping that it dries out enough to break out the mowers for the last time to grind up the last of the leaves and then winterize the things for their long winters nap in the shed.

I look forward to hearing about this on CBS News tonight.

Yeah, but it was a “dry” heat back then. This is a wetter heat so it *feels* warming, and feelings are what matters right?

Oh goodness, here we go again! Another headline storm supposed to be the strongest evah to have hit the Aleutian Islands.

Steven, it appears the US is in a heat wave right now: http://www.esrl.noaa.gov/psd/map/images/fnl/sfctmpmer_01a.fnl.anim.html

NOAA predicted it, but you denigrated NOAA for that prediction, and you predicted a cold wave instead. What went wrong?

Joe Bastardi gives us a look at THE WEATHER to come for the US. He still says most of us are in for colder than normal temps come January through March though the NW will be warmer. They still have the higher than normal snow totals running from NYC in the east in an arc down to Central Texas for this winter. He also says that the warm weather we’re having now is what happens more often than not during an El Nino season.
