These tales of impending doom allowed the Golgafrinchans to rid themselves of an entire useless third of their population. The story was that they would build three Ark ships. Into the A ship would go all the leaders, scientists and other high achievers. The C ship would contain all the people who made things and did things, and the B ark would hold everyone else, such as hairdressers and telephone sanitizers. They sent the B ship off first, but of course the other two-thirds of the population stayed on the planet and lived full, rich and happy lives until they were all wiped out by a virulent disease contracted from a dirty telephone.
Their third class were also workers. Out third class are bureaucrats and other troughers so it is save to ship them all to Venus.

In fact, this article made it WORSE for my understanding.
Their witlessness is literally incomprehensible to me.
Here in Aus. there has been a repeat of devastating fires in southern Victoria.
This area has been burnt several times including the 1983 Ash Wednesday fires.
Strangely enough all of these towns devastated are less than a kilometre from the ocean.
Why hasn’t someone come up with the idea of a large pump with infinite water supply – the ocean – to protect the towns ? Easy to implement I would have thought and a worthwhile investment as apparently our nation can afford to steal $2 billion originally earmarked for the starving and redirect them to a useless effort to control the weather.
Or even better yet for the greenies – collect emissions from coal fired power stations into huge gas tanks and put the fires out by smothering them with CO2 ?
Better still, how about they have controlled burns in the winter so there isn’t any fuel for the the big fires every 10-20 years.
Better yet ALL those who have lost homes and loved ones sue the pants off ALL the greenies and politicians that came up with the stupid @$$ no clearing laws.
