Climate Experts Are Idiots

Climate experts say the Arctic is ice-free. They also say the non-existent ice is melting rapidly. These people are incompetent buffoons who spread fear in exchange for money.

Excellent Tony! I had a good laugh reading all the wild ass predictions of ice doom … however there are too many greentards that swallow this nonsense hook, line and sinker and totally buy into the stories of impending DOOM and Hillary is one of them.

  2. David Richardson says:

I just love the Paul Beckwith piece headed Sierra Club Canada. The idea that the climate has been stable for the last 11,000 years is just laughable given the ice-core data but facts are not part of the game are they.

To add to your excellent collection –

  3. John F Hultquist says:

Stewart had a good laugh. Okay, me too. It isn’t so funny that a new crop of writers keep putting the same nonsense in print from the same old experts.

The first article, by John Noble Wilford, is silly from the get-go. “Ages old icecap”, a one mile wide ice free patch, and 50 million years — these phrases were fed to him by someone claiming to be an expert. They are/were the idiots. Wilford was educated as a “science” writer, emphasis on the writer part. He wrote about the space program and Moon landings. With declining interest in the space program he seems to have taken up science fiction. He is now 82 years old. Maybe he’d like to make a comment on how wrong he was.

  4. noman says:

Since they believe the ‘ICE’ no longer exists. Then take them up there and leave them there!

Or make sure they all buy tickets on the cruise ship that’s taking off in August, heading for the NW Passage.

Classic examples of goalpost moving. Haha

Hey Tony, could you do a post, say starting in 1998, that shows every year (just about) has been touted as the hottest year evah!? I did a Google search one day using each year and found that NOAA or NASA proclaimed each year the hottest evah. When it was an obvious La Niña year they simply exaggerated the temp by saying something like, even in a La Niña year the GAT was still x above the 20th century average.

Who will end this total immoral cancer ?

Donald Trump. If not we can kiss western civilization good bye.

What is happenning in Europe is UNBELIEVABLE and scares my into nightmares. How can a continent full of ‘educated’ people go completely crazy? Did they put hallucinogens in the water? To welcome your murders into your home with open arms is insane!

      • AndyG55 says:

        Hi Gail :-)

      • Jason Calley says:

Hey Gail! I know that you are familiar with r/K selection theory. The current profusion of r type culture in Europe is the civilizational equivalent of a business being completely insolvent and unproductive. The European craziness is nature’s way of declaring Europe bankrupt and allowing its assets to be redistributed to more functional cultures.

As a huge fan of freedom and natural law, it pains me to say it, but Islamic culture — even as backward and theocratic as it is — is a more viable culture than what Europe has at the moment. This is perhaps an even larger blow to Western civilization than 1453 and the fall of Constantinople.

        • Gail Combs says:

Jason, I understand where you are coming from but the Islamic culture is NOT more viable. What they are is VULTURES. They bring nothing to the table and only pillage and destroy. Once they finish looting Europe there will be no 20th century civilization just a primitive goat herding – feuding mess.

My SWAG (and yes Tony it is really far out)

          1. We know that Maurice Strong wanted China to be the new super power in the world. And Strong was a puppet of the Rockefellers. China has lots of qualities that the totalitarian elite like. A well cowed, intelligent people that has been beaten and bred FOR submission to authority for thousands and thousands of years. From what I have read, some sources say muslim/africa IQ ~ 85, whites = 100 and Asians ~ 110. (Yeah it is not very PC but that Neanderthal and then Denisovans interbreeding seems to have increased the intelligence as humans spread out of Africa.)

          2. In 1996 the Clintons got bought by China link and some of the Bundy and Hammond ranch clashes are alleged to be about the selling off US resources to China (and Russia) even though they did not actually own the land. The NOT VETTED Scuttlebutt

          3. US businesses and technology and know how has been exported. The infrastructure has gone to pot with bridges collapsing. The US military has been deliberately sabotaged.

          4. Neither Russia or China are taking ‘muslim refugees’ and China has recently shot muslim extremists.

          5. Obummer and Hitlery and Jebby the Twig are all for ‘free trade’ open boarders, mass migration and muslim refugee resettlement. That leaves the USA further divided with the cities containing an explosive mix of Black Lives Matter and La Raza activists (on welfare)and now muslim refugees are being resettled into small towns and cities. Now add in “Clinton’s plan to increase the amount of electricity generated by renewable energy sources to 33% by 2027 “ (Rasmussen Reports) plus the Trans-Pacific Partnership and you have economic collapse and rioting and fighting as the government goodies dry up.

China bombs the Muslim Caliphate in the EU, Africa and North America back into the stone age and colonizes all the continents. China has ZERO problem with killing people and has been building up their military strength. Heck as I mentioned before Dr Vincent Pry has stated to Congress “…a nuclear EMP attack from terrorists or rogue states as practiced by North Korea during the nuclear crisis of 2013 are both existential threats that could kill 9 of 10 Americans through starvation, disease, and societal collapse.”

Who is going to stop the Chinese? Putin?

          • Jason Calley says:

Hey Gail! Always a pleasure to read your comments!

You say, ” I understand where you are coming from but the Islamic culture is NOT more viable. Once they finish looting Europe there will be no 20th century civilization just a primitive goat herding – feuding mess.”

Let me repeat that I am NOT a fan of current Islamic culture; I prefer my religion and secular spheres to be well and clearly separated! They are certainly a viable culture though. Perhaps in the same way that E. Coli is, but viable nonetheless. Yes, there will be no 20th century civilization, but the goat herders will be stable in their state of poverty and religious extremism for a thousand years. Meanwhile European modern culture has managed to start two world wars and finally commit suicide in what…150 years?

I am agreement with most of your comment points 2 through 5. The facts are what they are… Not sure about the Chinese conclusion — but just because I am not sure that does not make you wrong. You might be right.

          • Colorado Wellington says:

Perhaps in the same way that E. Coli is, but viable nonetheless.

Dutch Politician Geert Wilders: I Won’t Stop Warning The West About Islam

          • Jason Calley says:

Hey Colorado! Millions of people died during the prolonged cultural battles that finally established the Western principle that religious and secular values could be separated. Once that principle is compromised, there is NOTHING in your life which becomes either your individual choice or even democratically (i.e. by majority vote) decidable.

Strictly as a religion, I have nothing against Islam. To each his own, believe what one will. But Islam conflates secular life with religious life. It is a religion PLUS a form of government. It is a religion backed by force, and that force sees NO area which is beyond its control.

          • Colorado Wellington says:

            Hey Jason!

            Yes, the problem is twofold:

The first, as you say, is that Islam conflates religious life and secular life, and puts religious authorities in charge of the state. This alone is incompatible with the values and practice of Western societies. Additionally, the religion requires Muslims to conquer the unbelievers and either convert them or force them to live in dhimmitude under Islam.

The second, in many ways more serious problem, is that our own political and cultural elites are hostile to those who point out this irreconcilable conflict. Western governments and institutions use all tools at their disposal to suppress the views and actions of those who understand the danger and sound alarm.

The Western Civilization will always have external enemies (I don’t expect The End of History to happen anytime soon) but it is the internal enemy that has succeeded in weakening it and losing the will to fight for its values and survival.

It is nothing short of suicidal.

          • Gail Combs says:

I agree that present immigration policies are nothing less than suicidal.

However one also has to add in that the Global Elitists are long range planners. Remember Congressman McFadden stated point blank to Congress in 1934 that Bankers in the USA and Europe used American gold and political power to DILBERATELY send the communists to conquer Russia and then was murdered. That Pascal Lamy not only said that the EU was a giant experiment but that the world leaders agreed in the 1930s to get rid of National Sovereignty.

The following article shows that the destruction of US independent farmers was agreed to just after WWII and the Committee on Economic Development, sister to the CFR has been working on that ever since.

What is happening in the USA today is the result of long range planning. It is NOT haphazard and the goal is a small manageable population to serve the needs of the elite.

I see the black and muslim freeloaders as parasites used to bring countries down and once their usefulness is over they will be removed.

            Fabian George Bernard Shaw said
“A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.”
However that is only stage one. It is used to take over of the present government and modify laws like instituting gun laws disarming the native population.

Stage two that is NEVER revealed by the liberal agitators is:

“The moment we face it frankly we are driven to the conclusion that the community has a right to put a price on the right to live in it … If people are fit to live, let them live under decent human conditions. If they are not fit to live, kill them in a decent human way. Is it any wonder that some of us are driven to prescribe the lethal chamber as the solution for the hard cases which are at present made the excuse for dragging all the other cases down to their level, and the only solution that will create a sense of full social responsibility in modern populations?”

Source: George Bernard Shaw, Prefaces (London: Constable and Co., 1934), p. 296.

“Under Socialism, you would not be allowed to be poor. You would be forcibly fed, clothed, lodged, taught, and employed whether you liked it or not. If it were discovered that you had not character and industry enough to be worth all this trouble, you might possibly be executed in a kindly manner; but whilst you were permitted to live, you would have to live well.”

George Bernard Shaw: The Intelligent Woman’s Guide to Socialism and Capitalism, 1928, pg. 470

The black and muslim Freeloaders, following this plan are therefore slated to be ‘disposed of’ once their usefulness in destroying western civilization is over. Given the Fabian love of Eugenics and the fact the Royal Society had a Eugenics conference in 2004(?) I am sure the elite have already decided the nice docile, intelligent and industrious cattle they want to leave alive. The Chinese are the group that fits that bill NOT the muslims. This explains why they are a bad choice compared to the Chinese.

Add in Ted Turner and others suggesting
“A total population of 250-300 million people, a 95% decline from present levels, would be ideal.” and I do not think I am very far off base even if it is an extreme SWAG tinfoil hat conspiracy theory. Would you have ever though our politicians would destroy the USA as they have twenty years ago?

You just have to think like a livestock farmer and of the Great Unwashed (their term for us) as cattle. I certainly have drastically culled my herds, reducing numbers by 1/2 or more on several occasions and only keeping those animals that meet my criteria. I just did it last year.

  9. BobbyK says:

Hey, I’m one who’s all for supporting that it is all a scam. Just a political agenda to go green, but as one who doesn’t really understand the math and science about it all, there’s still things that other people say that raise my concern and anxiety about all of this and I come here looking for it to be debunked.Such as even though there have been warming and cooling periods before throughout history, human interaction on the current trend however is causing things to move faster at a dangerous rate and that this is demonstrated to be a result of greenhouse gases being released into the atmosphere because of CO2 fossil fuels. It’s said at the current rate of change, organisms do not have time to adapt and we are seeing results like the Great Barrier Reef recently suffered a bleaching over 90% of the reef and scientists are hoping for 50% recovery, but it’s not guaranteed. Saying as the seas warm, they hold less oxygen and it creates problems for animal life. And that all of this is complicated by acidification of the oceans, also a result of CO2 emissions. Saying the seas are rising, and island nations are in real trouble already, as are many coastal communities. These are really scary claims. Can all of this be debunked?

    • AndyG55 says:

They didn’t tell you that the southern part of the GBR has expanded by some 25%

They didn’t tell you that many parts of the world are just NOT WARMING

      1. No warming in the UAH satellite record before the 1998 El Nino

      2. No warming between the end of that El Nino in 2001 and the start of the current El Nino at the beginning of 2015.

      3. No warming in the southern polar region for the whole 38 years of the satellite record.

      4. No warming in the southern ex-tropicals for 20 years.

      5. No warming in Australia for 20 years, cooling since 2002

      6. No warming in Japan surface data for 20 years

      7. No warming in the USA since 2005 when a non-corrupted system was installed, until the beginning of the current El Nino.

      8. UAH Global Land shows no warming from 1979 – 1997, the no warming from 2001 – 2015

      9. Iceland essentially the same temperature as in the late 1930’s as now, maybe slightly lower

      10. Southern Sea temperatures not warming from 1982 – 2005, then cooling … (is this a CO2 thing as well?)

      11. Even UAH NoPol shows no warming this century until the large spike in January 2016

Seas cannot “acidify” They are massively buffered by limestone, basalt, and carbonate seabed deposits. The rivers that have flowed into the oceans for millions of years have been mostly less than pH7, some even down to pH5.5… yet the oceans remain steadfastly around the natural equilibrium of pH8.1 +/- a bit. They already contain some 98% of the planets CO2, and anyone that thinks a tiny change in atmospheric CO2, a significant amount that has probably come from the oceans anyway, is going to change ocean pH by even a tiny amount, is playing fantasy games.

      • AndyG55 says:

ps.. I can provide graphs for any of the above facts… just one at a time because of the method of posting images on this new forum.

    • Colorado Wellington says:

You hear people saying that the seas are rising, and island nations are in real trouble already.

So do I. It’s horrible. In the Maldives, the sea has risen so much that they had to hold a cabinet meeting underwater. Look at the poor government ministers. They are all wet. They had to get expensive scuba gear, special furniture that can last underwater, laminated paperwork and special writing instruments that work in salt water, hire specialized firms to set up their underwater office, photographers to record the whole event and more. Just think what it cost them. All because of global warming.

I understand they were happy it all worked out during the underwater meeting so they could resurface and hold a press conference that the BBC, The Guardian and The New York Times reported. After all, the oxygen in a scuba tank lasts only about 45 to 60 minutes. If they got into some prolonged cabinet-level argument about how many new airports or tourist resorts they should build on the condemned islands, they would have all drowned and that would be a real shame.

After all, Maldives is a scuba-diving tropical tourist paradise and they can’t build new airports and holiday resorts fast enough to accommodate them. And we don’t want to see a dead president with his cabinet members floating in the water with all those happy honeymooners frolicking around, do we?

It’s just not good for business. The money guys who invested in all the new airports and tourist resorts would get really pissed and that would be the end of it. There could even be a coup d’etat and who knows what would happen to global climate justice and future investments in the Maldives tourist industry.

    • Gail Combs says:

Try reading this piece by a geologist, William McClenney I link to at the end. Elsewhere he says ‘“Until a few decades ago it was generally thought that large-scale global and regional climate changes occurred gradually over a timescale of many centuries or millennia, scarcely perceptible during a human lifetime.”

Dr. Alley, (a pet of Al Gore) has shown the climate transitions abruptly within years to decades. For example the Wisconsin Glaciation to Holocene transition was in ONE YEAR! Other data has shown

In the case of the termination of the Younger Dryas cold event, for example 1/3 to 1/2 of the entire 10,000-year deglacial warming in Greenland was achieved in order of 10 years (Cuffey et al., 1995; Severinghaus et al., 1998), with most of the accumulation-rate change apparently in a single year (Alley et al., 1993). The scaling of 1/3 to 1/2 the deglacial change in about a decade probably applies in many places (Alley, 2000). Any event for which rate of change is anomalous by two to three orders of magnitude merits attention. Older events were even larger, with a rapid shift of about 16 C in Greenland in one case (Lang et al., 1999).

If Ruddiman’s “Early Anthropogenic Hypothesis” is correct, the ONLY thing keeping us out of the next ice age is Carbon Dioxide. The Industrial Age along with the the recent grand solar maximum, may very well have occurred at exactly the most opportune time for H. sapiens, at the end of the present interglacial.

Also we are not out of the woods by a long shot. The Milankovitch Cycle low point will continue for 65 thousand years according to Lisiecki and Raymo. Yet these idiots in DC want to strip the earth of the CO2 security blanket that might be keeping us out of the next ice age.
      Lisiecki and Raymo’s conclusion?

…the June 21 insolation minimum at 65N during MIS 11 is only 489 W/m2, much less pronounced than the present minimum of 474 W/m2. In addition, current insolation values are not predicted to return to the high values of late MIS 11 for another 65 kyr. We propose that this effectively precludes a ‘double precession-cycle’ interglacial [e.g., Raymo, 1997] in the Holocene without human influence….

And to add insult to injury you can add the other papers showing C3 plants (99% of the plant species) were undergoing CO2 starvation when the earth was in the last glaciation.
Carbon starvation in glacial trees recovered from the La Brea tar pits, southern California and from the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society Carbon dioxide starvation, the development of C4 ecosystem

Here is William’s article that is a walk through numerous papers on the Quaternary and climatic change. (He sent me over 300 when I expressed an interest) Be aware that he has a really warped sense of humor that shows in his writting.
The Antithesis – The End Holocene?

    • David A says:

Bobby, also recommend web search CO2 science and “Climate Change reconsidered” from the NIPCC. (100 percent per reviewed)

  10. GeologyJim says:

Yes, BobbyK, but first you have to do your own investigation

Stop relying on IPCC drivel, leftist NGO’s, climate-alarmist media, and celebrity cotton-brained talking-heads (Gore, DiCaprio, Nye, Mann, Hansen, etc.)

Start by exploring the data-rich topical tabs on this website, or similar links through Check out,,,,, or

Come back to the discussion when you have some actual familiarity with the data, techniques, and the analytical issues.

and take a deep breath – – there’s nothing to fear from rising ppm of CO2, and even less to fear from methane (corals have adapted to survive far greater changes over hundreds of millions of years)

What you need to fear (and be deeply concerned about) is government control of more and more aspects of everyday life.

    • Jason Calley says:

And I would add, check out especially his work on GIStemp; there is a topic choice for it at the top of the linked page.

    • Colorado Wellington says:

By designating a harmless atmospheric gas that is essential to continued life on Earth as a “pollutant”, emissions control became overnight a tool of the totalitarian Left. Since CO2 is not a pollutant, it is clear that CO2 emissions control is about control, not pollution.

Bobby would benefit from looking into the matter and discovering that the same forces and people advocating “CO2 emissions control” also advocate “gun control”.

The evidence shows gun control has never been about guns because its proponents don’t want to give up their guns and those of the forces protecting them. All their efforts are directed against the people’s guns. It’s about their control of our lives. One can only hope that Bobby embarked on the path of understanding and will start paying attention to the real threats.

      • Gail Combs says:

“Political Power grows out of the barrel of a gun” –Mao Zedong

1911 Turkey Gun control — from 1915 to 1917 1.5 million Arminans killed

        China gun control 1935 — from 1948 to 1952 20 million killed

        1938 Germany Gun control — from 1935 to 1945 20,946,000 murdered.

Guatamala Gun Control 1964 — from 1964 to 1981 100,000 Mayan Indians rounded up and killed.

Uganda gun control in 1970 — from 1971 to 1979 300,000Christians killed, total 2 to 3 million murdered.

Cambodia gun control in 1956 — from 1975 to 1977 1 to 2 million well educated people murdered.

An individual no matter how hard he tries can come close to the amount of death a government can visit on its own people. Guns give people a fighting chance against government madness.

  11. Sunsettommy says:

From the NYT link,is this howler:

” The North Pole is melting.

The thick ice that has for ages covered the Arctic Ocean at the pole has turned to water, recent visitors there reported yesterday. At least for the time being, an ice-free patch of ocean about a mile wide has opened at the very top of the world, something that has presumably never before been seen by humans and is more evidence that global warming may be real and already affecting climate.

The last time scientists can be certain the pole was awash in water was more than 50 million years ago.

”It was totally unexpected,” said Dr. James J. McCarthy, an oceanographer, director of the Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard University and the co-leader of a group working for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which is sponsored by the United Nations. The panel is studying the potential environmental and economic consequences of marked climate change. ”

Ha ha, there are a number of published science papers saying the similar: Earlier in the Holocene there have been little to no summer ice for periods of time in the Arctic region. That mean just within the last 10,000 years of the past.

“The last time scientists can be certain the pole was awash in water was more than 50 million years ago.

”It was totally unexpected,” said Dr. James J. McCarthy, an oceanographer, director of the Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard University….”
