Sustainability

Burlington wants to be the most sustainable city in the US.

The only thing that makes it sustainable is fossil fuels. If the supply of fossil fuels was cut off, the city would collapse in a matter of days.

Bernie’s hot air is not a heat source?

I’m going to be in Burlington with my daughter next Monday. I’d love to treat you to a pint if your game ! You can mssg me at my email if your interested. GW

  3. David McMahon says:

sustainability is UN-speak for agenda 21 type urban planning

  4. I doubt it. Global warming will raise the level of Lake Champlain.

    • Joel O'Bryan says:

Global warming could also lower the level of Lake Champlain. Whichever it is, it will certainly be because of 130 ppm more of a trace gas. Trust in our NASA and NOAA, they know a gravy train for their scientists and supercomputers when they see it.

  5. GeologyJim says:

“Sustainability” is PC BS just like “Diversity”

Liberal code-speak for “Sit down, shut up, and don’t object to whatever inane policy or program we intend to shove down your throats – and make you pay for”

Honest Liberals (non-existent species) would say “Sustainability means “Eat your own young'”

  6. Marty says:

    We begin to understand Bernienomics.

Bernie was taught by his wife. I goes something like this
Borrow money to expand and spend it on a sexual harrassment case bankrupting who you work for in the process, in Bernie’s case the US, in his wife’s case the College.

Socialist nuts and working Economy as as different apples and orang.. Asteroids.

  7. HelenRW says:

Forget Burlington. You must go to Bristol for swimming at Bartlett Falls and Waterbury for beer at the Alchemist. Then pick up the Long Trail south of Rt.2 for a day hike and great views of the valley.

  8. Colorado Wellington says:

The voting for the WWF U.S. Earth Hour City Capital is a silly, feel-good, pretend competition. Burlington, Boulder and Evanston should take their participation trophy and go home.

Everyone serious about the subject knows that St. Elmo, CO, CO is the world’s most sustainable municipality, the fraudulent world green leadership claims of Frankfurt, London and Copenhagen with their huge carbon footprints notwithstanding.

So they brag that half *) of Frankfurt is green and set aside for recreation? St. Elmo has greenery growing inside the buildings and the whole town serves leisure only! And would you rather breathe the exhausts of Frankfurt’s VW diesels than the pristine mountain air of the Rockies? I didn’t think so. These self-centered green wannabees should see the daily dump of street garbage in Frankfurt and compare it to the pastoral organic decomposition of the most celebrated Colorado ghost town.

It’s all bullshit. These people can vote themselves whatever awards and rankings they want but real sustainability and depopulation experts know that the most progressive green action is in St. Elmo.

    ———-
*) Roughly half of Frankfurt’s surface area is “green”, according to the city’s environment department, which notes that 52 percent of the city area has been set aside for recreation and to offset climate change. It consists of parks, woodland, farmland, orchard meadows, grassland, allotments and hobby gardens, cemeteries, roadside grass verges and bodies of water.

How did you post up the pic? I tried img tags on the old site as a test and the image didn’t show up so I just put the URL in my comment

      • AndyG55 says:

put the mage on your computer, then browse for it at the bottom of the Leave a reply window.

seems it must be one of 4 formats, and only one pic per post.

      • AndyG55 says:

        like this..

      • Colorado Wellington says:

As Andy said. The only way I know of to post multiple pictures is to edit the images into a single “tall” file. Only climate deniers Level 5 and higher have typically enough motivation and Big Oil money to do it.

  9. OrganicFool says:

Portland, Oregon schools just banned all text books that question man-made climate change or question it’s severity.

The head of the Earth Day network calls this a great first step, which they want to see become nationwide and planetary in scope. How long before Vermont follows? They seem ripe for the cause.

  10. Andy DC says:

I don’t think Burlington would be very sustainable in January when it is -20 F. In fact we should cut off all fossil fuels to Burlington in January and see how long those pointy headed pseudo intellectuals who are in love with their creature comforts could last. Burlington would become a ghost town overnight!

  11. Dave says:

A common sustainability PC term bandied about in New Zealand by local “Smart Councils” is “have your say” . Lots of little boxes you can tick etc that let you have your say, which in reality means very little.
We have a 2030 vision for our capital city which is the same the world over under UN agenda 21.
“your say” may make you feel included, but in reality means nothing.

  12. Andy Oz says:

I remember the last time fossil fuels were cut off.
