Bernie, like essentially all Democrats, has completely lost his mind.

Tony, there is a difference between

“Demand[ing] That The Border Patrol Let Anyone In To The Country”
“stop[ping] harassing and intimidating families[..] at [..]border crossings.”

Indeed the U.S. borders are famous for intimidation. They have been that since the 9/11 terror attacks, or even before that. They are so famous for intimidation, that I, a nordic-white straight conservative male, am not willing to travel to U.S. for leisure or work.

There is a lot of room between harassment and “letting anyone in”. Basically the not-letting-in part should be done before people pay the flight and hotel. But this is not the case. When at the border checks, you better not to talk aloud about Bombay. Christ if you have a Muslim appearance. Or if “they” have a secret marking about you, or similar named person. You also better have a good skill in English, because if you don’t, they may harass you based on your wrong answers. Also, if you have a hearing problem, like I do.

I was hoping our borders at Europe were patrolled, but I don’t want any officers who think it is an open pass to harass people. I wish you understand that if you were not harassed, it might bias your opinion on whether it happens and how it feels.

    • Bob Ritson says:

sorry snowflake – but what you call harassment, I just call firm enforcement of law. And if you do look like a muslim, too bad if special interest is given to you. I’d rather they error a hundred times then let in someone who shouldn’t get across.

    • R. Shearer says:

Notwithstanding the border, there is a line that can be crossed by all law enforcement/security agencies, and unfortunately travel involves harassment or at least the potential thereof. I’ve always found immigration control in Frankfurt to be the worst.

    • Louis Hooffstetter says:

Good comment Wert, but here in the US everyone knows that when Bernie Sanders (or other liberals) talk about “harassing and intimidating families and US citizens at southern and northern border…” they are decrying the fact that President Trump is allowing the Border Patrol to do their job: prevent illegal immigrants from entering the US.

And if/when Bernie and other liberals say otherwise, they are lying.

    • KevinK says:

Wert, as a US Citizen who’s family tree goes back all the way to the US Revolution I can assure you that we don’t give a darn if you ever try to enter our country.

You are free to stay where ever the heck you are and we will not miss your presence here in the USA at all…

We reserve the right to decide who enters our country and always will.

For the record, my great-grandmother entered this country from Ireland after a mandatory stay at Ellis Island after breaking her arm while caring f0r other passengers who fell ill during a rough trans-Atlantic passage to the “New World”.

She had “folks” that vouched for her and stated that she would not be a “drain” on the rest of society once she arrived. And she and her offspring (me included) never where….

Wert, just stay where you are, we will all be OK with that…

      Cheers, KevinK

    • Colorado Wellington says:

Roughly how many times have you crossed the U.S. borders?

I have encountered only one really bad case of intimidation despite extensive international travel (much of it on business to and from Europe). Ironically, this happened when I was returning with my whole family from Asia through L.A. Other than that, I’ve only experienced an occasional nuisance crossing the borders. The biggest changes for the worse since 9/11 happened in my view at domestic airports, not at the borders. I’m curious how much of what you’ve described about the U.S. is from a personal observation.

Also, knowing how other governments control their borders, and having traveled in Europe since before the end of the Cold War all the way to Schengen, I’d like to know what country you think does it well, i.e. respectfully but efficiently?

    • SxyxS says:

      Wert-i’m not american
but there is one very strange thing about Bernie Sanders Arguement as soon as you know certain things.

The real harassment of US people is not at US Boarders
but at domestic US Airports where people are treated like shit.

Now,considering a very simple and logical fact= Boarders are there to protect countries and their people(and keep jobs inside)
and to keep negative stuff out of the country,
a harsh boarder controle is normal.

But in this perverted world right know the people of the USA get harassed inside their country and Bernie don”t give a shit
while illegals crossing the boarder should be treated like kings for their Felony.

As this is about Boarders Bernie for sure don’t give a rats ass about how us citizens are treated as he doesn’t care how they are treated inside.
His real intention here about Boarders is to keep them open and he is using the backdoor.

If Sanders would be the hoenest man he pretends to be and not a hipocryt
he would have stayed in the beloved system of the Sovjetunion
      when he was there
instead:he came back and took all benefits of the US System. He got rich
      while praising socialism.

If there are serious problems at US Boarders then they should be exposed,
but if not than this is pure political propaganda from him.+it seems that your “boarder” experience happened some time ago(during the Obama era),therefore don”t blame Trump
and ask yourself why Sanders kept quiet all the time and is now complaining.

IT WAS NEVER ABOUT TERRORISTS! It was all about controlling Americans.
The FBI’s Terrorist Screening Database, which is secret, supposedly has about 1 million names. It is incredibly easy to get on the list and incredibly difficult to get off the list. Sen. Dianne Feinstein wants to use this secret list to deny Americans the right to own guns.

#2. Many of the strict and unique practices in Saudi Arabia come from Wahhabism, the official and dominant form of Sunni Islam in Saudi Arabia. Wahhabi mosques are financed all over the world by Saudi Arabia including here in the USA. Yet President George W. Bush’s decision was to invade Iraq. Iraq is approximately 60–65 percent Shi’a, 15–20 percent Arab Sunni and 17 percent Kurdish.

The Patriot Act is now ALL about HARASSING PATRIOTS and not the invader of our country.

The Obama’s Admin harassing Tea Party groups made that very very clear.

        • SxyxS says:

          If it was about terrorists,
the number of muslims let in the USA would be exactly Zero.
As this group is responsible for ca. 98% of all terrorist attacks world wide.

Instead the USA(shadow government) is importing as many muslims they can get while they are considering their own people the biggest terroristic threat while considering Islam a blessing.

This is easy to be explained:
The US citizens are in fact the biggest threat
to the take over of the USA by an unelected Elite.

That’s why they are spying on you.
That’s why they are trying to take away your guns.
That’s why they are importing as many illegals to your country-so these can be used against the domestic population.

President GW Bush told us why we needed to resume the war in Iraq, He even got a war declaration for it, actually more than one, legally. Saddam had to go. I can’t say, legally, anything else about that, though I wish that I could. Still, the simplest reason was the repeated violation of the ceasefire terms. Remember, ceasefire agreements do *not* end wars. Only duly negotiated peace treaties ratified by the US Senate does that.

    • bleakhouses says:

Well Wert, right up the road from Bernie’s home in Burlington Vt. is a very large USA/Canada border crossing; it services anyone driving from NE USA to Montreal, Quebec City and the region. I’ve spent hours sitting at that crossing in the last few years, from USA to Canada, being “harassed” by Canadian border patrol. Alas, unlike yourself, I’ve no fear of crossing as a “straight white conservative male” of Eastern European and Teutonic descent. Nothing, not even the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, is going to stop me from my Schwartz’s smoke meat sandwich and poutine!

  2. Latitude says:

I don’t understand what all the wall screaming is about….
It only keeps out people trying to come in illegally..
..they can walk over 10 feet and come through the gate….legally
Thousands of people do it every day

    • Gail Combs says:

“I don’t understand what all the wall screaming is about….”

It is very very simple the adult component of the 40 million illegals in the USA VOTE DEMOCRAT! They also serve as paid less than minimum wage & under the table maids, gardeners and servants for the Liberal Elite.

      • bleakhouses says:

Gail, its all that and more. Its an intentional demographic change brought about by the failed policies of progressivism. The progressive west has become such an oppressive regulatory state that the people have responded by stopping having babies. The US and most of the rest of the usual suspect nations are at below replacement rate birth rates. A capitalist society needs human capital to grow and, more importantly, to the ruling class at least, they need an ever expanding base of tax payers.

Once a population falls below replacement level birth it quickly ages. An aging population is expensive and less productive and consumes less capital goods. All very bad.

The “solution” has been to “import other people’s babies” (hat tip to Steve King, he knows and let us know); in the US they are Mexican, Central American and South American babies (all regions of positive population growth) and in Western Europe it they’ve been Middle Eastern and African babies, also regions of large population growth (the largest, in fact).

        • Gail Combs says:

Yes I am aware of that. E.M. Smith had some good posts on demographics and economics a while back

Actually the USA is not in too bad a shape.
Total fertility rate = 1.87 (2016) it was 2.01 last I looked (2014?) but a poor economy depresses birth rates.

China is in really bad shape. Total fertility rate =1.60 however the one child policy skewed the demographics to mainly male since they are responsible for caring for their parents.

Europe is in even worse shape

Bring in immigrants with decent education AND WITH SCREENING is fine and dandy but we do not need dengue hemorrhagic fever, Chagas disease, Enterovirus D-68 and Chikungunya – as well as drug-resistant tuberculosis and malaria and Zika virus — now on the list of diseases brought to the United States by illegal aliens.

We do not need murders, thieves rapists, and drug dealers.

And we certainly do not need illegals overwhelming the social services like food stamps, section 8, education…

In September 2015, the Center for Immigration Studies published a landmark study of immigration and welfare use, showing that 51 percent of immigrant-headed households used at least one federal welfare program — cash, food, housing, or medical care — compared to 30 percent of native households. Following similar methodology, this new study examines the dollar cost of that welfare use.
The average household headed by an immigrant (legal or illegal) costs taxpayers $6,234 in federal welfare benefits, which is 41 percent higher than the $4,431 received by the average native household.

The average immigrant household consumes 33 percent more cash welfare, 57 percent more food assistance, and 44 percent more Medicaid dollars than the average native household. Housing costs are about the same for both groups.

At $8,251, households headed by immigrants from Central America and Mexico have the highest welfare costs of any sending region — 86 percent higher than the costs of native households….

Seems the ‘CURE’ is worse than the ‘Disease.

          • bleakhouses says:

US has been on a long steady decline. China is not a good example because of the policy you mentioned. Japan is in REALLY tough shape.

          • Squidly says:

… but a poor economy depresses birth rates.

Sorry Gail, that is not true at all. Evidence of such can be found in all of the poorest economies of the world, which all have the highest birth rates in the world. The data shows that the most developed, industrialized and wealthy nations have the lowest birth rates. Economic development and prosperity are the actual drivers of lower birth rates. There is a really good book out there that touches on this subject, the name escapes me now, but it details the hypothesis of why the world will never see anything greater than a 9 billion population, and in fact, we are most likely at our peak population right now as birth rates over the past three decades have slowed dramatically around the globe as more and more countries continue to further develop.

          • Gail Combs says:

It does here in the USA. Sorry I was not more clear.

You are correct third world countries have very high birth rates since the kids are free farm labor and can be sold. However here in the USA the cost of raising a child is so high, a bad economic out look will keep people from having a second or third kid.

          • Squidly says:

Gail, with all due respect, no, it does not apply here in the US either. The more affluent and wealthier communities in the United States have a much lower birth rate than the poorer communities, by far! .. in fact, the richest of communities in our country are currently tracking at about 1.2 birth rate .. that is disaster in the making! .. Meanwhile, the poorer hispanic and black communities are tracking right around 4.3. Muslim communities in this country are tracking right around 7.2. In much of Europe, Muslim communities are hitting 8.4 and above, while their indigenous populations are between 1.2 and 1.6.

The data and statistics surrounding this issue are extremely clear and very stark, particularly here in the United States.

I hate to play this card, but it’s just too easy.

Doubtless, Sen. Sanders would have supported the German assertion of “Lebensraum” in their immigration to (or “occupation of”, wink wink) Poland back in the 30s.

Afterall, the Berlin government was “only asking for Poland to respect Germany’s need for living space”.

OK, I will resist invoking the “N” word – – you all know what happened next.

      • Squidly says:

Actually, Bernie Sanders is not a socialist. He is in fact a “Democratic Socialist” (aka; Marxist Communist).

Democratic socialism is a political ideology advocating a democratic political system alongside a socialist economic system, involving a combination of political democracy with social ownership of the means of production.

The key here being, “social ownership of the means of production.“. Which is in fact the primary tenet of Marxism.

Bernie idolizes Marx and the former Soviet Union, spending his honeymoon in Russia. Sanders has many ties to former Soviets and has always been an admirer and subscriber of the Communist way.

“In December, a similar video of a wheelchair bound child crying her eyes out appeared online. Twelve-year-old Shelbi Walser, who has a genetic bone disorder, was detained for over an hour by TSA agents at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport…
In March of last year, another small wheelchair bound child was filmed being touched up by a TSA screener, prompting a deluge of criticism and complaints.”
    — Paul Joseph Watson

… a Florida woman complained that her cancer-stricken, 95-year-old mother was patted down and forced to remove her adult diaper while going through security…. the 95-year-old was taken by a TSA officer into a glassed-in area, where a pat-down was performed, … Weber said she burst into tears during the ordeal, forcing her own pat-down and other measures in accordance with TSA protocol. But she said her mother, a nurse for 65 years, “was very calm” despite being bothered by the fact that she had to go through the airport without underwear.

Eventually, Weber said she asked for her mother to be whisked away to the boarding gate without her, because their plane was scheduled to leave in two minutes and Weber was still going through security…

OR Bernie could complain about the Obama Administration TARGETING Conservative groups for harassment.

Catherine Engelbrecht and True The Vote, A tea-party group targeted by Democrats gets attention from the IRS—and the FBI, OSHA, and the ATF.

True the Vote was not the only group targeted.

…The IRS filed the list of 426 groups last month as part of a class action lawsuit. The names of another 40 to 45 groups that met the agency’s criteria for extra scrutiny and delays were not released since they opted out of inclusion in the lawsuit.

Sixty of the groups have the word “tea” in their name, 33 have “patriot” and 26 refer to “liberty,”

…NorCal Tea Party Patriots filed the lawsuit against the IRS and some of its officials in 2013, shortly after an earlier inspector general report revealing the targeting was released….

NorCal had sought IRS lists of groups seeking tax-exempt status that were allegedly subjected to delays and requests for unnecessary information due to their political beliefs….

The IRS fought the request to produce the documents…

[IN a CYA move] Based on these documents, it appears that liberal groups’ names were added to the lists at later points during the period. One hypothesis the plaintiffs have is that the IRS added the liberal groups “to try to muddy the waters” once the agency realized it was being investigated…

In the courbette the horse rears up, hoping forward on its hind legs and moving into the mezair strikes out with its forelegs, kicking in the head of the foot soldier in front of him.

My favorite is the capriole where the horse jumps from a raised position of the forehand ( levade) straight up into the air, kicks out with the hind legs, and takes out the foot soldier behind him.

All these moves take a very strong horse which is why the Spanish Riding School in Vienna uses only stallions.
