December 18 was the last really hot day of the unprecedented 1939 heatwave in the US, which brought 80 degree temperatures to Kansas and 60 degree temperatures to Minnesota. Half of the country was over 60 degrees. Omaha, Nebraska was almost 50 degrees warmer on December 18, 1939 than it was last year. (According to climate experts, last year was the hottest year, ever.)
