My father got his PhD from Cornell in 1957. A family friend recovered his thesis, so I drove down to Los Alamos last weekend and picked it up. You can see it online here. He studied quantum mechanics under Freeman Dyson, who later went on to become a leading voice against climate alarmism.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

That is very cool, Tony! It is clear where you got your brains, your love of the outdoors, and your devotion to scientific integrity. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
I did a web search and found this nice tribute to him:

I see that he passed just seven months ago. I am very sorry for your loss.
(Note: there’re two copies of this post; I posted the same comment on the other one.)
Thanks Dave
So good to see you are back online. And being able to peruse your father’s thesis is a bonus.
Wow, top gun. Having such a father is a great honor, and he lives on through you and your work. I’ll try to read his thesis, but I’m not sure my math is currently up to it. Thanks for letting us know about your father.
Yes, wow – genuinely, thank you.
I consider your website as ‘Top Gun’
All your articles are timely; accurate; and interesting.
Your father was someone to be proud of.
Keep up the excellent work.
Thanks for all your effort.
That your Dad studied under Freeman Dyson was the cherry. Thank you for sharing this.
