Democrats Continue Their Attack On The US Constitution

Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.

William Pitt, 1st Earl of Chatham

The White House continues their attack on free speech, claiming that their abuse of power is for the public good.

The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) today denounced a subpoena from Attorney General Claude E. Walker of the U.S. Virgin Islands that attempts to unearth a decade of the organization’s materials and work on climate change policy. This is the latest effort in an intimidation campaign to criminalize speech and research on the climate debate, led by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and former Vice President Al Gore.

“CEI will vigorously fight to quash this subpoena. It is an affront to our First Amendment rights of free speech and association for Attorney General Walker to bring such intimidating demands against a nonprofit group,” said CEI General Counsel Sam Kazman. “If Walker and his allies succeed, the real victims will be all Americans, whose access to affordable energy will be hit by one costly regulation after another, while scientific and policy debates are wiped out one subpoena at a time.”

The subpoena requests a decade’s worth of communications, emails, statements, drafts, and other documents regarding CEI’s work on climate change and energy policy, including private donor information. It demands that CEI produce these materials from 20 years ago, from 1997-2007, by April 30, 2016.

On March 30, 2016, Attorney General Schneiderman, former Vice President Al Gore, and attorneys general from Massachusetts, Virginia, Connecticut, Maryland, Vermont, as well as Attorney General Walker, held a press conference in New York City to announce “an unprecedented coalition of top law enforcement officials committed to aggressively protecting and building upon the recent progress the United States has made in combating climate change.” Schneiderman said that the group, calling itself “AGs United for Clean Power,” will address climate change by threatening criminal investigations and charges against companies, policy organizations, scientists, and others who disagree with its members’ climate policy agenda.

CEI Fights Subpoena to Silence Debate on Climate Change | Competitive Enterprise Institute

I meet with CEI almost every month in DC to discuss ways of ending government climate fraud.  Their only interest is getting legitimate science into the policy debate. I have never seen anything but integrity on display from their staff.

The Fourth Amendment to the US Constitution was written specifically to prohibit this sort of abuse of power. It was a response the British general warrant.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

There is no probable cause against CEI, or any sort of cause at all. It is an attempt by the White House to harass dissidents into submission to White House tyranny.

Democrats are the party of the poor and oppressed. As such they need to have a lot of poor and oppressed people to vote them into office.

  2. Barbara says:

The 4th Amendment is perfectly clear. This new attack is so absurd that we should have seen it coming! In quoting the quote, “..recent progress the United States has made in combating climate change”, I prove that new heights have been reached for absurdity and pointless rhetoric. I begin to think we are doomed. The ignorant and criminal are winning. Any suggestions?

  3. stephen says:

this is why the 2nd. amendment exists

  4. pinroot says:

So it’s harassment when someone want’s to see Mikey Mann’s tax-payer funded work, but somehow this is different.

    • Barbara says:

Yes, pinroot, different! A nonprofit organization with an excellent reputation being hit with a nuisance request for ren years of documents (very short time frame) to prove what? CEI’s reason for being is very obvious. No mountain of paper will reveal anything new. On the contrary, exposure of possibly inaccurate science produced with taxpayer sourced government funding should be a big issue with everyone. “Mikey” Mann’s “science” has been revealed to be worthy of scrutiny. Also, I absolutely believe that climate change is real and ongoing, but there are many who need to get over their hubris and realize that mankind neither causes nor is able to prevent global changes.
Personally, I think the Holocene is about over; and, if I live so long, I am not going to like the changes. Warm is good; cold is much more difficult.

      • Justa Joe says:

#1 They’re trying to attrit the CEI using tax payer money BTW. #2 They’re hoping they finally discover the “smoking gun” of the CEI being financed by “Big Oli.” Democrat scum probably regard the CIE as the single biggest thorn in their side on the climate hoax front.

We are living is a sick, twisted, dangerous world right now. We can’t give up; we have to fight the Liberal cancer that has more or less taken over a big part of the world.

These mentally sick people think if they repeat the man-made climate change lie over and over, people will eventually believe it is true. We need to fight them with every fiber of our being.

I think about the WWII generation and how so many and so much was lost, but they fought on and won. They did not fight the enemy with “love and tolerance” we know what they used to win. We need to emulate them and fight to the end so that our children, and our children’s children can continue to live in freedom.

As a Libertarian, I can assure you that “liberals” are not the problem, as they believe in liberty. The problem is leftists.

    • Republicans adopted the Christian National Socialist habit of spitting the word “liberal” (the Liberal Party 1931 platform urged repeal of prohibition and religious totalitarianism). Their leper’s bell since 1932 has been the use of Nazi epithets.

  8. ristvan says:

Gandhi’s aphorism is apt. First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you (flat earthers, deniers). Then they fight you. Then you win. We have arrived at the fight stage.

It is an appalling abuse of power, especially considering how EPA and NOAA dodged FOIA requests for information to support their “endangerment” finding.

“Libertarians have a number of public relations problems. Some are the result of people not understanding our ideas. Others, however, are our own fault: We sometimes fail to express our ideas clearly or attractively. In particular, we have a habit of emphasizing what we’re against rather than what we’re for.” Steve Horwitz

Liberalism is a mental disorder, Libertarian-ism is not, there are many differences between the two. I stick with my opinion above.

    • Barbara says:

+1, Gal. I am probably a Libertarian at heart, also, not a Liberal or a Leftist, I choose to vote where my opinion has a small chance of making a difference. You don’t have the numbers.

      • Another Republican pretending to be completely ignorant of mathematics and history. Search “The Case for voting libertarian” and you will see we have as many numbers as it took to enact the communist income tax Red Republicans struggle to preserve. Libertarians will repeal it–after we rid the world of Republican looters and make the planet safe for freedom.

      • gator69 says:

I am a Libertarian, but have never voted for one because I am not an idiot who throws his vote away. I will vote for any electable candidate who stands for liberty, or against the greater of two evils. It is my duty to do so.

        • I confess it took me 27 years to notice what Milton Friedman was saying about democracy. Voting FOR any looter kleptocracy is not only evil, it is idiotic because your vote loses its law-repealing power. Ask yourself how the income tax got from the communist manifesto to the 16th Amendment if the commies were “throwing away” their votes. Now Google “The Case For Voting Libertarian” and click the audio button, no messy reading, only two graphs.

        • gator69 says:

          Enough tripe.

A vote for a losing candidate is a vote for Hillary. Go ahead and navel gaze all you like, taking the lesser of two evils is what intelligent sane people do.

    • gator69 says:

(sigh) I guess you do not get the concept of deceit. Leftists call themselves “liberals” in order to hide their agenda but they are not “liberals”, they are leftists, or progressives. When you slander actual liberals with comments like that, you drive off allies in the fight against totalitarianism. If you want to stand by unnecesary defeat, that is your choice.

Every party has public relations problems, that is why there is more than one party, I cannot help it if people are too lazy to find out what Libertarians are actually all about.

      • I use the terms correctly, as do all Englishmen, Canadians, Australians and most former and current British Subjects. Only Americans let Republican Prohibitionists and German National Socialists change the way they use language beginning in 1932.

  12. The Virgin Islands were a quiet little entrepôt where US retirees were able to buy hay fever medicine after the Harrison Act… for a while. US prohibitionists sent Herb Hoover to threaten antiprohibition judges in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands petitioned for freedom from US rule, but noooo… Naturally, they want revenge, just as you and I would. There is no more deadly vengeance, thanks to the Republican and Democratic parties, than aiding and abetting the Econazi Fifth Power.

  13. ricks2014 says:

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, AMERICANS ARE THE STUPIDEST PEOPLE/NATION of all time !

Name a people, nation, country that stand [In-Line] patiently to vote to their “own” destruction ?

    Name one ???

The United States of America !!!

    Stupidity “deserves” reward ! ? !

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”

So let it be written, So let it be done…

    • annieoakley says:

Oh i don’t know that the US is THE most ignorant. Sweden, Germany, France (again), UK , Italy, Greece, Netherlands all seem to be mighty stupid.

  15. Andy DC says:

To Democrats, the Constitution is an antiquated, inconvenient document, formulated by rich, property owning, slave owning, dead white men. It can thus can be tweaked at a moment’s notice by the courts or even by Executive Order, to satisfy the wants of whomever they perceive to be the victims of the evil capitalist system and straight, white male oppression.

  19. Justa Joe says:

Everyday brings another outrage but not another surprise. The Donks’ flagrant abuse of power continues apace.

Didn’t the founder of the Pacific Institute, A direct contractor to the Federal Govt, forge some documents in an attempt to discredit the CEI? We won’t see any investigation of that liberal bastion, the Pacific Institute though. The left wing/enviro governmental complex is one of the most dangerous rackets out there. I’m surprised they waited this long into the BHO tenure to go after the CEI.
