“Millionaires who have been driven out of Miami and Palm Beach by an influx of billionaires have resettled in a different Florida city- Fort Lauderdale.
Super wealthy individuals like Jeff Bezos and Ken Griffin have snapped up homes in Miami and Palm Beach, driving up real-estate prices and squeezing out the less rich.
As a result, millionaires have created a lavish enclave in Fort Lauderdale, where thousands of college students celebrate spring break.
The surge of millionaires in the city has led to a mansion-building spree and a rise in property prices.”
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

Having lived directly on the beach in Fort Lauderdale since 2000 in what was then the nicest condo beach development in Fort Lauderdale (and still #2 despite Auberge— we have 10 acres with two clay courts, two large dog walks, generous landscaped grounds, three pools, and our own ‘bar and grill’ cafe—while Auberge covered their ten acres with concrete to cram in more condo units), I can attest it’s true. In fact Jorge Perez, the biggest ‘billionaire’ real estate developer in Miami, just finished last year his first ‘multimillionaire’ development in Fort Lauderdale, Auberge. Only many times over multimillionaires need apply. Is directly south of my own condo complex (L’Hermitage) separated by a less than a half mile of now $10-15 million (on the beach) or $5-10 million homes inland the beach side street, redeveloped single family homes.
Of course, it really helped that I bought 24 years ago as a mere lowly millionaire, when times were different.
when land becomes that valuable it would pay to make more of it, which is what they did on Manhattan Island… but you can’t do that anymore because of the Eco maniacs. contrary to popular belief that Manhattan Island will be underwater soon, it has actually gotten much larger over the last couple hundred years – by filling in the harbor at the southern tip. Rud, as a mere thousandaire, I can’t relate, but let it be known there’s still Florida real estate for us pooor folk. I have a relative that owns a house about 75 miles south of Orlando and the prices there are no more than what you would pay in a medium sized town in Iowa.
These rich people obviously became rich by wasting money for stupid things –
It’s the only explanation why very smart people who believe in global warming want to live in doomed areas.
And not just in doomed areas but in a state run by a racist, bigot, nazi.
And the main reason why the number of Millionaires in Miami has almost doubled within a decade are Millionaires from California and NY.
All woke climate zealots who dispise extreme right wing run states.
They are not only wasting money – they seem to be very masochistic.
