“THE HURRICANE IN WEST INDIES.
The hurricane recently devastating the West Indies raged for seven hours, and was the worst experienced since 1831. Six hundred deaths are reported, and 10,000 huts were destroyed.
In Barbadoes there are now 50,000 men, women, and children homeless. At Saint Vincent 41,000 people are shelterless and foodless.”

As the result of a devastating tornado, followed by tidal wave and floods which have swept over Florida fifteen lives were lost and over twenty thousand have been injured whilst thirty thousand are homeless. It is estimated that more than £20,000,000 worth of damage has been done at Miami alone. The disaster is the worst experienced in America since the San Francisco earthquake.”
