NOAA Still Calling This 47 MPH Monster A Hurricane
This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Bookmark the permalink.
The 8 am NOAA update is STILL calling this a Hurricane with 75 mile mph sustained winds. I’m sitting in Newport RI right now, strongest winds to this point were around 6:30 am at around 40 sustained with higher gusts.
It does not even look like an organized hurricane, just a giant mass of rain….I dont even see where the eye should be!
8:46 am update from Newport. A squal band has arrived with driving rain and wind speed back up to the 40s sustained. The Tree outside my window lost a dead branch.
Micah:
Call FEMA ASAP They are waiting for something to do! Call the national media because they are looking for photos of massive destruction such as you describe! 😉
A second dead branch fell out, somebody is going to have to pick them up and put them in the dumpster. Looking around, this area would be in a world of hurt if, God forbid, a real Hurricane or ice storm hit this place. All of the power lines run right through the trees. I guess they don’t believe in triming them here. Of note: still have power. Winds down into the 30s with some stronger gusts.
The utilities expect wind here and send the trimmers through on a regular basis! It is called being prepared!
Some might call it, heaven forbid, the precautionary principle applied properly!

Now that’s proper wind, not your little zephyr Irene.
