This “phenomena” of which he speaks was first postulated by Dr Hans Zarkov, who theorised that the change in mass balance at the pole would cause the planet to lean to one side and subsequently hurl itself into the sun.

How could anyone be stupid enough to believe that a place with no sun for 6 months is going to remain above -1.8C? Strictly speaking, that’s only true near the pole. A place at 70N or 70S will be dark only about 8 weeks out of the year and have about 8 weeks of 24h daylight.
