Climate scientists have linked the massive snowstorms and bitter spring weather now being experienced across Britain and large parts of Europe and North America to the dramatic loss of Arctic sea ice.
If their latest nonsense were true, that would mean that loss of Arctic ice is a very powerful negative feedback – which obliterates the basis of their global warming scam.
Both the extent and the volume of the sea ice that forms and melts each year in the Arctic Ocean fell to an historic low last autumn, and satellite records published on Monday by the National Snow and Ice Data Centre (NSIDC) in Boulder, Colorado, show the ice extent is close to the minimum recorded for this time of year.
“The sea ice is going rapidly. It’s 80% less than it was just 30 years ago. There has been a dramatic loss. This is a symptom of global warming and it contributes to enhanced warming of the Arctic,” said Jennifer Francis, research professor with the Rutgers Institute of Coastal and Marine Science.
According to Francis and a growing body of other researchers, the Arctic ice loss adds heat to the ocean and atmosphere which shifts the position of the jet stream – the high-altitude river of air that steers storm systems and governs most weather in northern hemisphere.

Yeh – melting ice releases heat to the atmosphere ? Then this heated atmosphere moves south bringing the cold with it ?

Hmm, so UK’s cold winter of 2010 was due to the jet stream being influenced by the solar minimum, but the UK’s cold winter of 2013 was due to the jet stream influenced by evil CO2 melting the Arctic. The fun thing is that Prof Lockwood is an eminent UK scientist and a CAGW fan.
Keep firing guys, I’m sure you’ll shoot something other than your own feet eventually.
I love this CAGW absence of logic. They can say anything is caused by anything.
For example – I had Hot Cross Buns today because of excess CH4 emissions in Western Australia. Nothing at all to do with it being Good Friday. Prove me wrong!

The Guardian has been promoting carbon taxes for ages. The paper is the PR mouthpiece for the Carbon Credit industry in London and they are close to hitting the jackpot once the US Democrats brings in a Carbon Tax. The US will buy trillions in “carbon credit offsets” from London. The bonuses for these guys will be incredible. And note it is always an economist (Llewellyn in the UK, Ross Garnaut in Australia) who says the tax will solve climate change. Seriously? The same guys who brought us the GFC will solve CAGW? Yeah……..right……

And the Telegraph reports that 10X more deaths have occurred from cold than warmth, yet it’s such an old and boring story, no one will address the problem.
That’s cos the “old and boring” are the poor ones who are dying from the freezing cold. They keep saying – “the science is in.” Once the UK runs out of gas in a few weeks, we’ll see how much heat can be generated from “the science is in” crowd.
The poleward jet streams are looking similar at both poles and this a harbinger of upper atmospheric changes, hence bad news for the alarmists…

Warm is caused by global warming and cold is caused by global warming. Who are they kidding? Kind of like “heads I win, tails you lose”.
